Need An Attention Getting Tagline

Posted by Anonymous on 2500 Points
Hello to my fellow marketers! In case anyone may have wondered where I've been, I was engaged in a full time consulting gig, and now have accepted a new position. The end result is that my "time" in the Forum has and will be limited.

On to my question - I have been providing marketing assistance for several years to an offshore IT outsourcing company. Since this started the president of the company moved to the US and created US based holding company. Although they had grown consistently since their inception in 1995, being based in the US opened up more opportunities for them.

My relationship with them has been somewhat complex as I have been a marketing consultant, a customer, a development partner and a part-time sales person. This has allowed me to work with and get to know many of the people both in the US and in the offshore development centers. I have been completely satisfied with their business, professional and technical capabilities.

Their president has asked me if I could help them create a dynamic new tag line that would convey, in his words, "The elite status of their professionals, and their orientation on business solutions." In other words they want to highlight that they have world-class level technical people who understand business needs.

The company is Intetics and you can see their web site at www.intetics.com.

We have kicked around a lot of things, but so far haven't come up with a three or four word tag that "pops", so I thought I would see if my esteemed colleagues in the forum could get our creativity flowing.

Please take a look at their web site and come up with ANY suggestions you may have. BTW - If you want to discuss some other aspects of the company's approach, please feel free.

Thanks in advance to everyone who helps out, and I will "spread the wealth" when awarding points!

Instead of playing a creative word game, why not ask Intetics customers what Intetics does different & better than their other options and why they decided to pick Intetics. If you need help with how to ask, let me know. I'll add a follow-up post afew this.

Your other option is to run pay-per-click advertising campaigns and testing out a ton of different text ads.

Let the numbers do the talking instead of playing a guessing game.

I was trying to find the emotive words that would attact the typical types of business that your client will want to attract.

    We Manage Your Success

    Effective Management for your Business

Interesting problem. Your customers use your services not because you are the best, but because you are cheaper than local. So you want to emphasize the skill levels to remove the stigma, like China saying they don't make poor quality products, and gain a premium in your market. I deal with an outsourced IT company here in Thailand, so I understand the issue some. But the real value is in the outsourcing and the costs:

    Innovative Outsourcing, Proficient Programming
    Experienced IT Outsourcing

Personally, I would not focus on the "Solutions for Your Business" aspect - that is not really a differentiator. In general, IT outsourcing is ... general. Unless you are doing a specific business solution - CRM, ERP, HR Integration, etc., the kind of tagline you will get from this will be pretty generic.

Your real differentiator seems to be the ODT, and its ability to improve flexibility, communication, process control and overall results:

    Flexible Outsourcing, Outstanding Results
    Flexible IT Outsouring
    IT Outsourcing - Process Improved
    Outsourced IT, Contolled Results

    Just some ideas.

    Cheers!

    Off-short affordability. Off-charts performance.

    Not outsourcing. UPsourcing.

    Affordable functionality. Fast.

    Where software concepts come alive.

    Where form IS function.

    Where concepts get wings.

    Success, for your information.

    Efficiency, FYI.

Given the focus on quality reassurance messaging, how about:

    - World Quality IT Solutions

    - The World's IT Source

    - Faster. Cheaper. Better.

[this is a play on the old IT statement that a client can only pick two of these attributes. your differentiator is that you can provide all three]

    - Good Value - Outstanding Solutions

    - Good As IT Gets

    [sorry, couldn't resist ...]

Remember taglines can be used in 4 basic ways:

    1. Link a product feature with a need
    2. To make a promise
    3. Single words (always good in threes) as benefits
    4. Suggest risk of not using product:

And it always help to get an emotive word or two in there.

A great tagline will build a brand and last long after the tagline and maybe the brand has gone. A great tagline is one that you can remove the core brand and still know what it is trying to sell:

"The Real Thing" ... we all know, even without the colours and curly lettering.

Even a good tagline gets you thinking when you see it in context. The Daily Telegraph (UK Press) has the tagline "Time Better Spent" and when seen in context of the publication works incredibly well (or maybe I'm bias!)

    IT SHOULD PORTRAY YOUR USP.

Here's a "Snakes on a Plane" approach to your tag line problem. There are too many ways to say you're a low cost and high quality provider of outsourced IT services. So if Samuel L Jackson joined our forum, what would he say?

What is the big, emotional win by outsourcing business processes? What headaches does it remove? And how vivid can we make it so that is resonates and cuts through the puffery?

    The problem:

"I want to focus on what I do and let someone else do the back room stuff."

"I need to be able to scale my company without hiring a lot of people in G&A."

"I want to concentrate on what grows my business -- not the things I need to do to accomodate my growth." Etc.

So, here's some creative for thought:

    "Focus on What Matters"
    "Focus on Your Strength"
    "Get on with business"
    "Your Business Process Backbone"
    "Grow Your Business With Confidence"
    "Your Partner in Scalable Success"

A different approach -- hopefully this will kick start you into a good direction. I hate copy that smells like copy! Tell it from the gut.

    Good luck!

After summarizing what you want, I've come up with this suggestion:

    Offshore Process. Onshore Contact.

It not only conveys the company's USP but also restricts each word to two syllables. Short and simple.

    Hope this helps.

What I thought of is that you need something that will click into your potential customer minds once they face a trouble, like the high cost of hiring someone else, the bad quality of service, the far distance and the different language of your competitors , its like you have the best advantages of it all.. So why not direct the message to clarify all that, and why not have the message that will pop up your company name once any of your potential customers need any of your services!!!!
Also I think the message should indicate clearly how powerful you are no need to mention the cost factor because believe me it hard to believe that I can get the best service and quality for the cheapest price!!
so maybe a small sentence that can explain why you are different and how you understand your customers may help

I hope the below will explain...

    •Technologies your dream( business), intetics

    •Human need, technology solutions, intetics

    •Technology feels your need, intetics
