Appropriate Brand Name For Startup Incubator

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi everyone.

Need the help from our fine group of marketing experts to have a clear brand name that reflects the business we are developing at the moment. As you all know starting a business is something of great value to the overall economy, and all parties in the market should encourage the firts steps of the entrepreneur, but it is also a decision that carries a lot of risks and needs to be fully supported in order tosurvive and prosper in this hiperactive and competitive world of ours. The incubator (or baby business day care, as some might call it) is of great value to futute entrepreneurs. The project is based in Europe, for now with the first step in Portugal as it is an open market to test new ideas and concepts. It will accomodate professional and amateur business projects.

It will be positioned as an incubator 2.0, taking advantage of all the latest developments in technology and marketing concept. It will be focused not solely on tech projects and people but also in service businesses directed to companies and families. Will have strong connections with universities and students but will not be owned by any of those groups.

Will need the forum“s contribution in 2 main aspects:

1. What is the name / tagline you suggest for this venture?
2. What are the main characteristics you think it should have in order to succeed?

Any doubts please feel free to ask. Thanks.

    Hi

    How about...

    The IncuTWO Centre
    'Adventuring ventures'

In my work with entrepreneurs in Ireland, I've found that the best ones do the 4Ms very well.

    1. Money ( sourcing initially from family, friends and fools)
    2. Management ( using mentors , a great no.2 and picking the brains of the guys with grey hair)
    3. Motivation ( persistence beats resistance and they always surround themselves with 'positive people' and 'experiences')
    4. Marketing ( the achilles heel and source of most failures amongat the 4Ms)

    Hope this helps

Why not "Incubator 2.0?" And if that name isn't available, I'd try "Incubator 2+" or something else that keeps the word "incubator" in the name and adds something that suggests it's advanced or better than the old version. ("Incubator rev2")

Then you can come up with a tagline that explains what the 2.0 or 2+ or rev2 means in benefit-oriented terms that are most meaningful to your target audience. And I'd be sure it's in the local language so it doesn't sound like an import from some other country. The more local and specific the better.

Have you done any research among your prime target audience to see what they have/want/need? You might consider doing that and using what you learn to help with both development of the tagline and any promotion material you produce for the business.

Finally, there's a MarketingProfs how-to template titled "Why most small businesses fail ... and how you can keep yours from becoming one of the casualties." You might want to get a copy, print it out, and be sure it's available to your "baby chicks" as part of the service the incubator provides.
