I Need Help With A Store Name!

Hello everyone!

My family and I are opening a home based retail store in Downtown (strip mall), offering storage solutions as well as bed &bath products and kitchen & dining ware. This store will be a one stop shop covering a wide number of rooms in the house. My primary clients are / will be home owners, architects/ interior designers, hobbyists’ ages 18-60 years old of 80% women and 20% men. Our style is to give our customer wide range of premium products- best quality & stylish designs to suit their lifestyle.

Names that have already been thought of include:

HOME Base
Home SuperStore
Home Ideas
Totally Home


Names of already established businesses include:

Bed Bath & Beyond
Linen & things
Home Essentials & Beyond

Any fresh ideas / suggestions for a HOME store name would be greatly appreciated!

    If you're willing to drop the word "home", you could try something a little more abstract, like your family name.

    It's true. When you settle on your unique value proposition, that should be reflected in your Name and tagline. I chose Living Rooms because of the plural "rooms" which seems to be a slight difference that you might underscore, if indeed you are doing more than Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

    Einstein said simplify, simplify, simplify.

    How about

    ALMOST HOME.

    Because when it's at your store it isn't home yet, your clients make it a home.

    I think you could also reexamine your clients with particular attention to the who. What do the three groups you mentioned have in common, architects/interior designers, hobbyists (80% women), home owners.

    I think you should

    DWELL ON IT

    and perhaps the right kind of name will come to you. I would look to create a lasting local brand so I would try to come up with something more unique especially for the interior design group.

    Good luck on the naming exercise. Hopefully from all that you've gotten here you can select one or two finalists and run them past your family

    Lots of options. I'd be checking not just the name for the store, but practical things like can you get a URL for a store website. If you are offering quality people may travel to see your store so an easy URL will help in promotions.

    Hi Ron,

    From your post, it looks like your store is an upscale location targeting architects and designers in addition to home owners. So, I'm thinking you could go with something like:

    Elegant Living

    Designer Home Interiors

    As mentioned before, your name has an important role in positioning you against the competition. So, look for one that represents what makes your store special. There are plenty of consultants here on Marketing Profs that can help you figure out a positioning strategy (including me). If you don't have clarity yet about what differentiates your store from others, we can help you find your unique selling propositions. We are in tune with consumer trends and can give you an edge in establishing your store.

    I think your differentiation you state is "Our style is to give our customer wide range of premium products- best quality & stylish designs to suit their lifestyle"

    by the way some of your earlier names are registered companies and trademarks like Homebase. So if you find a good name always best to do a legal check on it.

    I really appreciate all your comments and suggestions. It was a great help in guiding us for the right name for the store. We haven't decided on the name yet but we are considering some of the options that you gave us.

    We wanted something catchy and consumers can really associate to what we are selling. It's really a must to have the right name for the right store, of course with the merchandise assortment that we will be offering.
