Desperate For Tagline Ideas

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I work for a city government who is eager to find a tagline and logo. I have presented almost 100 ideas and am feeling a little frustrated. Part of the problem is getting an idea that multiple people agree on. When conducting a survey of those who visit the website, I have found the most important characteristic of the city is the small town feel. The city has about 20,000 residents and sits right outside of Atlanta. Atlanta continues to expand outward, and they really want to keep Atlanta from reaching their city. There are plenty of recreation and cultural opportunities in the area. Go south in you are in Atlanta, go north and you are in the mountains. Any tagline ideas incorporating the small town feel would be great!

What do the 8 people agree on?
You are stuck in a beauty contest without rules.
Is "Small town" your key ingredient?
Anything else that might make your small town feel different?
Or do you want to be just like every other small town in the U.S.?
What is the strategy behind all this?

ilan's comments and questions are important. You need some more answers. In the meantime, file these away until you can compare them to what you need:

"Where people know and care about their neighbors"
"An oasis of comfort in a busy world"
"If you want relax and enjoy life...this is the place at just the right pace."

OK, I've gone a little over the top.

It has become a very popular thing with City governments these days to design logos and taglines. They are seeking ways to brand themselves. We are trying to find a way to sound different from other cities. The city manager and council want to make sure we find a way to incorporate the small town feel without making it sound like it is a small town with nothing to offer in the middle of nowhere Georgia. They want to make sure it doesn't give people room to make fun of the south. So they are looking for something classy too. History is important to several people too. There are notable historic sites in the area (i.e. Etowah Indian Mounds), and several museums for people to visit. As previously mentioned, it has approximately 20,000 residents. It has plenty to offer as far as convenience too. There are plenty of major retailers and restaurants too. But luckily, they avoid the everyday Atlanta traffic. Does this help? Thanks so much for all your help.

Although it is the government looking for the tagline, the goal is to find one that can be used across the board...tourism, economic development, businesses, etc.

Atlanta's a bit of a sprawl so something like

    Where heart and history meet

History and people at our heart

    A city with a heart

    Escape to ...

The problem is that something more unique would be better - these are all very glib apply-to-anywhere ideas. There are lots of small towns with small town feel. What's so special about yours?

A town that as warm and welcoming as a Georgia summer
Hidden treasure in the Atlanta hills

Something you may find interesting and useful...I live in what is considered Metro Atlanta, just one county south of here (a mere 10 minutes away). The lifestyle there is very different from this city. The traffic here is much slower - no one uses horns. The people are very polite and life is much slower paced. These people will live much longer than the people where I live. The majority of people in Metro Atlanta are always in a hurry. Hopefully, this tells you a little more about this city.
