Its probably more important to find out how they want to pay, click through or percentage of sale or hosted coupons.

I would probably go the coupon route because you wouldn't have to pay for just lookers and could easily expense/budget out your marketing cost per item and people like coupons.

    Hi Iqlim,

I could give you a better answer if you define your question more narrowly. I imagine that you are familiar with the major PPC networks and common trends in optimization, and that there is nothing new under the sun there.

The most exiting trends for 2008 are most likely to be in-video advertising, the continuous rise of open ad networks (https://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/googles_potential_vulnerability_open_...),
local PPC advertising, especially with Google who has made some impressive innovations and is improving its local search almost on a weekly basis (through technology and user submissions) and advertising on the mobile web with its rising number of consumers.

I would also predict that the fears of a looming recession will drive more advertising budget into online and take it from the more ‘established’ media.

I would also talk with a ppc firm like www.ppcmanagement.com they are the founders of the software writen by a guy named Jed back when ppc was makeing a market. PPCManagment.com was founded with their first release of PPC Pro (the leading PPC Bid Management Software) designed for use with goto.com (the predecessor to Overture and subsequently Yahoo) The Premeir PPC Account Management Company was born! These guys are on top of PPC.

Pay Per Action - You don't pay unless the online reader takes action (for example, calls you or orders).

There is definitely a trend (really a demand) for increased conversions post click. Although not always considered or included as part of a paid search initiative, it is one of the most important factors in whether they are successful from a positive ROI/cost-per-acquisition benchmark.

SEO is the new advanced SEM. It is really hard to maintain a competitive advantage in PPC ads. Your competition can just increase thier bid and you are toast.

SEO is a much better game to be playing long term, since you can actually establish and maintain an advantage.

Don't pay the per click tax to the search engines. Create a strategy to develop content and perform SEO. For almost everyone it is a better strategy.
