Theme Idea

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I'm the current president of a community organization. We have a annual summer celebration/fundraiser. We need a theme/tagline for the event this summer. I'm not good at this kind of creativity. Help!

It would be helpful for you to give us some more info. Where are you located? When is the event? What is the name of your group? What have some of the past events been called? Anything that might help us know more about you will help us brainstorm some ideas.

    Thanks!

Tell us more is a good idea. Anyhow I am a auctioneer in my secret walter mitty life so constantly have to come up with creative ideas for summertime events and fundraising. Perhaps you can visit my profile page and drop me an email.

Here are some very general ones. Camping, Beach Party, Baseball, Hotdogs & Apple Pie, Fourth of July, Fourth of August (same party but everyone is in town). Casino Night, Carnival, Go around the basics of food, entertainment, and summer activities and I am sure you can come up with something that fits your needs.

If you say more about the who you are, why you are fundraising, and where you are, we can provide some more specific creative ideas.

I'm not sure if this is right way to post or not, but I couldn't figure out how to edit my original.
We are in central Nebraska. A small community of about 450 surrounded by corn and soybeans. The event is called Booster Days on June 7-8. Basically involves a mud volleyball tournament, alumni banquet, dance/beer garden, parade, barbecue, with kids games and other food mixed in. We don't really do so much as a full theme, just a tagline to make parade floats and such from. I think last year was "Hampton's the one for summertime fun", kind of corny but it worked. thanks

Okay now that we know a little more about ya. How about a "corn" versus "soy" volleyball tourney within the theme.
Hampton Borealis - we had it before aurora did.
Hampton NE - Polking fun at the rest of the nation
One of my favorites - "The real housewives of Hampton Nebraska" - a celebration of the contributions of females in the community (stolen from Bravo TV's real housewives series)
A Cornacopeia of Good Times in NE- fifty things you can do in Hampton that you can't do anyplace else.
A corn maze would be fun but I am not sure if you would have time to do it.
Take a bit from your name.
Hampton- An Amazing Place to Work and Live.

    HOpe that helps Phil

Phil had some good ideas - I liked the things you can do in Hampton. Kind of hard to do a corn maze in June. Might be 6 - 8 inches. (I'm in Iowa.)

How about an overalls contest - dirtiest - oldest?

Tractor Ride from Hampton - ? or end in Hampton.

Contest for oldest tractor still in use. Oldest Pick up truck.

    Hometown Hampton
    Husker Holiday
    Hwy 34 garage sale
Hwy 34 Cruise (bring em in from Seward and Aurora, and have it end in Hampton - you could tie in with the old "Happy Days (in Hampton!)" show. Fonz and Richie look-alikes, etc.

    I'll keep thinking!

    Good Luck!

I'm liking some of them. Ugliest pickup is a category in the parade, I like the tractor. Tractor poker run would be cool. Keep thinking.

The Tractor thing is really big around here. In fact a couple of radio stations host rides around the state that bring hundreds of participants - corporate sponsors, etc. I could give you a contact there if you are interested. My profile has my email if you want to drop me a line.

You can do the typical farm state contests - husband calling, hog calling, fiddle and harmonic contests, pie eating, etc.

You could try an American Gothic look-alike contest.

    I know - keep thinking.
