Need Help Naming A Maternity/baby Retail Store

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hello, I need help naming a Maternity and Baby store. We will have a 730 sq ft store in a popular shopping destination (called Peddler's Village in Lahaska, PA) - their website www.peddlersvillage.com. There is another baby store there, so we have had to change our concept a little so we don't take away their business. Here are the things we are "allowed" to sell: Maternity Clothes, anything for pregnant moms, baby gear (like pacifiers, teethers, carriers, strollers, etc.), baby gifts (like personalized sippy cups) and baby furniture. We are not allowed to sell any clothing, shoes, socks, etc.

We currently have a website that we have been operating for a year now. It is called Mommy's Luxuries or www.mommysluxuries.com. Peddler's Village didn't like our name, so we need to find another one. Right now I really like Waddlers and Toddlers or Waddlers 2 Toddlers. We are going to limit the things we sell to be from maternity to about 2 years old.

Please give your suggestions, thanks!

I like Waddlers 2 Toddlers because it flows with Peddlers. The other baby store is called "Periwinkle Place" I believe. "Mommys Luxuries" may be a tougher sell in today's economy downturn. My only other name ideas are:

    From Here To Maternity
Up 'Til 2 (until 2 years old, and up until 2 AM with a new baby!)
    Baby Bear's
    New Through Two
    Swaddle & Toddle

I strongly suggest that the word "baby and/or maternity" (or a synonym) be in the title to make it obvious what you're selling. For example, "Waddlers And/To Toddlers" sounds like 1-2 year old things (including clothing).

    Maternity Home
    Glow Into The World
    So, You're Having A Baby!
    Enchanted Inner Garden
    9 Months And Beyond

I suggest a play on words: "Becoming Mommy"

Then I strongly suggest that you use the website name in the tagline: "The place to find Mommy's Luxuries"

    How about...

    BabyTime

    Momma's Nesting

    The Nest

(tag line: Unique gear and gifts for the expectant family)

Without knowing your defined target market and growth projections, I agree that "luxuries" may be a problematic word for attracting a wide target prospect. Also - in reviewing your website, I was drawn by the fact that your products are unique. This may appeal to those who are looking for shower/baby gifts. There are tons of options out there.)

    Good luck

These are great ideas everyone - thanks so much. Please keep the ideas coming!! I agree about Mommy's Luxuries - we will be changing the website so that it has the same name as the store.
