Help Me Come Up With A Million Dollar Name

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hello. I am a gourmet chef who has been fortunate enough to travel the world. Through my travels, I have used authentic ingedients to come up with spice blends from different parts of the world (i.e. chinese, french, mexican, middle eastern, etc.). My family and friends have enjoyed foods I've created using these and now I'd like to share that with the world. I know that cooking new cuisines can be intimidating for some, but I want it to be a fun experience and an ability for people to explore. That said, I will be including some complimentary recipes.

Key benefits include a)convenience b)variety c)cost/time savings and d)health benefits of cooking at home. Of these, I think the emphasis needs to be on variety and basically the international aspect and ability to cook new flavors--relatively easily.

Primary target audience are women, ages 25-45, college educated, most likely homeowners, married or single, and with or without children. Our target audience are folks who appreciate and value home cooking and are not looking for a super easy solution such as microwaving, fast food, or frozen foods. However, they are not gourmet chefs either. Just everyday people.

I have gotten great feedback about the product, but need help coming up with the name/tagline and essentially a brand as that will shape my packaging, marketing materials, website, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Is the product your spices? Are you trying to market direct to the consumer, or through stores? What more can you tell us about what you have in mind?

    Thanks!

Yes, it is my end product. My marketing strategy includes marketing directly to consumers through a website, online stores, etc. but also I would like to make this product available at gourmet/specialty stores.

Thanks Casey...I feel like I've come up with a hundred names and nothing is really sticking... i want it to be catchy, but of course not cheesy. I want it to be somewhat sophisticated (as it will be sold in gourmet/specialty stores), but not intimidating.

Any other ideas either for names, or an associated tagline would be appreciated. I also was thinking that it would be good to have the word "spice" in the name?

Personally I'd be selling to men - they're less conservative in their cooking and more interested in cooking without a recipe book. If not then your prime objective has to be to get recipes out there - recipe books, leading TV chefs etc - the name is the least of your worries. Think of some major food brands - Kraft, Nestle, Lays - not exactly earth shattering.

    But anyway...

    Silk Road Spices
    7Seas
    Odyssey
    MysticEast
    Argonaut
    James Cook
    Intrepid Spices
    Tahiti
    Maharasha
    Kush
    Xanadu
    Harem

People don't want spices from around the world - they want tasty, healthy food easily.

To sell your "high concept", you need to give the recipes away regularly, often, to people who've subscribed to your website's opt-in form. The recipes would include a shopping list, total time to prepare, calories, and a difficulty rating. In fact, you could also sell this as a menu-of-the-month club. Each month, you'd USmail to your customers a menu packet with spices for that packet. It would be a surprise, and allow people to look forward to the special meals they'd prepare.

With that said, here are some names: Around The World in 80 Ways, Exotic Meals Made Easy, The Wold Epicure, and International Chef Experience.

Great ideas! I like Jay's mystery meal of the month club! Extra value there! Just make sure you don't go too exotic and keep in mind that not everyone lives in a community with a grocery store that will carry the other ingredients you'll need to prepare your special meal.

    Other names?
    Foreign Flavors
    Taste Celebration
    Tasty Treasures
    Blended Delight
    Xtra Touches
    Delicious Delights
    Dining Delights

    Good Luck!

I like the meal of the month club also. I really liked the name 7seas, but of course, every domain name is taken. Some other good name suggestions too. Thanks.

Maybe come up with a generic name like International Spice Blends...

Then get real cutesy with the individual names of the blends. Like maybe use an Italian word in the Italian Spice Blend, like Miscela Italiano! (italian mix, I think).
