Recruiting Banner Tagline For Computer Division

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
My company, Meridian Environmental Technology, is going to be attending a few career fairs and we're developing stand-up banners to provide a visual "booth." This banner will be 6.5 feet tall, contain information regarding the positions within the computer/IT division (all of them, not only the ones we're currently seeking), and there will be handouts for the sought positions available from the guys working the booth.

I've decided to avoid using a "people" picture on the banner, and instead am looking at using a pair of hands holding multi-colored jelly beans. I've come up with a few ideas for a tagline, but I'm also looking for other suggestions.

Idea 1: "It takes all kinds to make a great group"
Idea 2: "We handpick the best"
Idea 3: "Join a great handpicked group"
Idea 4: De-saturate all the jelly beans but one, and have "Stand out from the rest"

The way I see it you'd like to attract people in the industry where finding and retaining good people isn't easy. I would play on "green" aspect of your business and/or something inspiring

    Some suggestions
    grow your future job
help us see (discover) what tomorrow (the future) will look like

I'd advise against jelly beans, since it doesn't reinforce your business of weather forecasting and analysis. Instead, highlight your technology: weather maps, pictures of extreme weather, pictures of your clients farms, etc. Technology is more likely to appeal to your prospects than abstract jellybeans.

    As for a taglines:

    Do Something About the Weather.
    We're All-Weather Friends
We Forecast A Great Working Relationship
Our Talent Is All Over the Map

instead of jelly beans-- you can get multi colored M&M's with your logo on them, or dollar signs. https://www.mymms.com/customprint/

You can give them your logo M&M's as take aways.

if you go with one of the handpicked taglines, I'd do all beans (or m&M's) in one color, except one "handpicked" separate color.

I like much of the feedback above, but if your only intention is to attract individuals to your booth...then I would go with your initial idea using the jelly beans and hands. The color alone should be attractive.

I would also couple my booth initiatives with small boxes of jelly beans that contain my company information.

    Here are some Tagline ideas:

    - "Have it Your Way"
    - "Opportunities this sweet are hard to come by"
    - "Have your pick"
    - "Good beans are hard to come by"
    - "More choices. More Rewards."
    - "More choices. More Rewards. Make the Right One"

Thank you everyone that kicked in ideas.

Karen, yours were excellent and right on for what I was thinking along. I went with the "Opportunities by the handful" and it was met with a great response.

mdlugozima, I'll actually be using your "We're looking for a blend of talents" along with a picture of a steaming coffee mug (and more weather related pictures) for another recruiting banner for forecasters.

While I liked some of the others suggestions as a general idea, they didn't fit with the recruiting focus (computer guys really don't care that they are doing computer stuff for a weather company or a chocolate company, just as long as they get to play with computers).

I had already thought of having individual packets of jellybeans to accompany our "recruiter," especially since jellybeans are constantly stocked in a communal candy bowl in the developers' area. Putting our name, message, or logo on boxes or the M&M's items were just too expensive... can you tell we don't have a bunch of money to throw into advertising/marketing? Hell, I'm not even a formal marketing person, just someone that was told "You're going to be our marketing person, get to work!" ;)

Thank you, again, for the quick and friendly advice!
