Need Tagline Slogan For New Business

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi everyone.. I am starting a new construction business as a general contractor. I already came up with the name but I need a tagline. Since we are new, most of the work we are doing is remodeling projects. I would like to expand to new construction as well. How can I convey the feeling of good customer service along with quality work?

Business name: OZ Construction Services
Area: Miami, FL
Type of Work: New construction, remodeling and handy man services

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Ozzie

Plenty... I have worked for several years now as a project manager for a big construction company but after a while you realize that it's time to move on and get something of your own.

I do have work booked for the next two months but when you have a crew you can't afford to have them waiting around.

I do advertise locally (yellow pages, local magazines and web) but the reality is that many companies are doing the same thing. Sometimes little things make the difference when the customer is choosing companies for bidding.....That edge is what I’m trying to get.

I think you're quite right to look for the 'edge' over your competitors. 'Round these parts, we call it the USP -- Unique Selling Proposition.

In other words, what are you offering that separates you from the competition; that is unique and compelling to the potential customer?

Your tagline, ideally, should be an expression of your brand. Your brand, in turn, should encapsulate your USP and the 'personality' of your company.

So, if you are focused on customer service, perhaps you live out that brand with a satisfaction guarantee. Sure, others may offer the exact same guarantee, but you can make it sound much more impressive and center your brand around the label:

    OZ Construction Services
"Home of the 'Total Satisfaction' Guarantee"

Another example - everyone in your business supposedly listens to the customer and works to their specs, but you can make a strong claim in that area into your brand:

    OZ Construction Services
"We build exactly what you want"
    or
    "We build your dreams"
    or
"You dream it, we build it"

Or you can focus on how nicely you treat people and their homes:

    OZ Construction Services
    "Miami's most careful builders"
    or
    "The gentle renovators"

Just think of your company as a person. If someone met that person, what would you want them to think? That you are 'nice', 'reliable', 'a good listener', 'skilled'?

Pick the most important attributes, but be sure that they are REAL attributes that you actually live out or strive to live out. That's your brand, and that will drive your tagline, style of advertising, etc.

    Hope that helps!

(Apologies to all branding pros reading this -- I know I have grossly simplified things, but I'm trying to make it possible for the questioner to move forward ...)

In this field or line of work, everything comes down to "price" and "quality of work". Reliability is important but if you are not priced right, it won't take you anywhere.

With that in mind..... any thoughts?
