Naming And Branding A New Real Estate Company

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
I have been a real estate agent in Minneapolis for the past 5 years and have decided to open my own brokerage. About 85% of my business is all around the twin cities area and the other 15% is lake homes outside of the twin cities. I am also a mortgage broker (7 years) and have been offering my customers one stop shopping for several years. I will still be originating mortgages at the mortgage company that I am currently working at which is a family business.

What my strengths are as an agent are; honesty, integrity, hard work (I have been known to show as many homes at it takes to find the perfect one) diligence and TRULY representing my clients best interests from the beginning through the end of the transaction. I also think that it is a real benefit to my clients that I have a thorough understanding of both real estate and mortgages and am able to understand many aspects of the transaction whether or not I am representing them on both sides of the transaction.

I have been trying to think of names and tag lines for the new company for weeks and cannot seem to think of a good one that is not already taken. I had been concentrating on naming it something other than my name as I feared that naming it after myself might be a negative for potential employees. Now, I am questioning that and would be open to any suggestions. My first name is Carol and last name is March (husbands last name is Walton). I am open to any combination of the above or something totally different.

Any tag line or naming help would be SO appreciated. I want it to sound professional, esteemed and timeless as I hope to have a long career ahead of me (still in my 20's) I sell to first time homebuyers through multi-million dollar estates. I really liked "four seasons" but it is taken.

I hope that all of this info helps! Thank you!

Why don't you brand it as a number: "7"! Design a logo that is contemporary and noticable. I am sure with a name like this you will make waves especially with For Sale signs that have a blairing "7" on it.

Name it after yourself if you're known, since it'll help attract business. Otherwise, your name doesn't mean anything to the general public. Instead, name it based on something unique about your business but don't make it too obscure (otherwise people won't know what you do at a glance).

    Real Estates

March and Walton- put your next home in our hands.

March Properties... we guarantee it will be sold by March.

Under Contract...the next property I sell could be yours.

CityLake Realty...We don't sell houses, we sell homes.

    TrueNorth...follow the north star home

    I would go with:

March & Walton - the right address

The concept is to brand your name like its a well-known intersection in a desirable part of town - thus the use of the ampersand. This opens up lots of ideas for visually representing your business. It also allows you to build on your relationships, but it keeps the door open for the name to evolve in the future beyond you to other agents working for you.

The tag line - the right address - affirms your customer's felt need (to find the right place to live.) It also subtly affirms your skills in following through to the end. You can build your story based on the combined skills of two people - an agent and a broker, March and Walton - coming together to give a complete service.

March & Walton - the right address.

To bad I'm not moving to the Twin Cities. I'd call an agent branded like that.

I don't know the region so I don't know the segment you are dealing with. If it is not high street stuff call it something obvious:

    Home & Credit

It is not as cheezy as it sounds. Calling it by your name will not ring a bell to new customers. It is only good for word of mouth. Unless you think that your satisfied customers will refer you extensively, I would go with something that communicates what you are doing.

    Hi Carol,
I think you have two decisions here.
First come up with a name, and then come up with the tag line. The tag line can come considerably later and you can change it and update it. The name however is vital.

I see you are trying to recruit licensed salespeople to work for you, I understand the need for a generic name. Consider in the future what your name will sound like if you associate with a franchise like Coldwell Banker Home and Garden, Century 21, ERA, etc.

Example: Century 21 March Realty, or Coldwell Banker March Realty.

Go to godaddy.com and type in various variations of your name and see if they are already taken. Its free and can help you think of other names.

    Taglines:
    March on over...
    1-2-3 March
Trust us with your most important asset

    Real Estate Trust
