You may want to incorporate the name of the area in which you're opening the gym, or go with something simple like FIT, Fit & Fun, STRETCH...the list could go on.

You may have thought about these already, but it helps to describe the residential area and your ideal target client.

For example, what are the demographics in your area with regard to age/icome? What % of the population are work-at-home Moms? What--if any--competing fitness providers are relatively nearby? This should inform the ideal target market.

Here's an exercise to practice with others: If you were in a room with a potential client of your new gym, how would you describe the offering to him or her? (Take note of what features you emphasize.) Try this with people of a different age/fitness level/attitude. What would you say in each case if s/he responded, "I don't have time/$ to work out?"

This is the opportunity to tout the benefits of your facility for particular target market(s).

You may come across a combination of monikers from which you can build a tagline to display on the wall when clients enter. The key is how you: 1) Target a market and appeal to its need for your services and 2) Differentiate yourself from the competition.
