Name Independent Insurance Marketing Agent Company

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
Hello Fellow Marketers,

I am in desperate need of your expertise. My Husband is in the process of starting his own company and he really needs a great business name. I urged all of the partners to come up with a name that describes what the company will actually do but found that those names describing his company are already taken.

The company will provide an independent insurance marketing agent for smaller insurance companies offering multiple insurance services and products. The need for this type of service is in demand for smaller companies who cannot afford or do not need to have a full time marketing agent in each territory but still need to have a presence in the market or who offer special niche services.

Smaller companies are struggling due to the rising costs of benefits, payroll, taxes, travel, car, and training. Some will even hire one agent to cover 3 States! With a limited budget for marketing, these companies are getting an unexperienced entry level marketing agent at best. Turnover rates are high because of the difficulty in competing with larger companies.

Initially they will be offering services in Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

We need to come up with a name that will convey independent or contract insurance marketing agents. I have even thought of initials or utilizing team or group in the name. All of the business partners names start with J which is unique.

Also, if you have any taglines that seem to fit, please add those as well.

Thank you for all of your help!

Please don't do your self a great dis-service by using your name or friend's names. Unless their name is catchy or memorable or unique enough to build a brand around then you are just another company with initials or a name. Branding is about standing out not filing your self in-between the competition. Remember that.

Names have served many companies well - F.W. Woolworth, Wal-Mart, JC Penneys, Macy's, Lowes, Nordstroms, etc. But, I do see Levon's point. It may mean that your tag line is what is going to be the most important part of this exercise.

Maybe something as simple as - Covered! would work. Then add a tag that says something like - "We cover the territory you can't" or "we can be where you can't" or something along those lines.

I suppose you could live dangerously and go with "The J Crew"

I'll keep thinking - Good Luck!

Thank you for your responses Levon and CVN,

I understand all about branding. I seem to have no problem getting ideas for others but I am more critical of my own personal projects. Personally I do not wish to use names or the initials J. They are not original by any means. However, it has been a topic of conversation during brainstorming. So therefore I added it.

I would like to utilize some type of name that conveys what they will be offering. Without saying independent, free or contract marketing agents for the insurance industry.

Just for the record, I do not want to be involved in any lawsuits with JCrew :-). Cute though! LOL

    Keep the ideas coming everyone.
