Is This A Good Name?

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi, I'd like some opinions on my proposed business name

"Renaissance Stone and Tile Care"

My business will restore, and maintain, the visual appearance of hard surfaces such as ceramic tiles, marble countertops, polished concrete, granite installations.
The target market is wealthy homeowners and the property managers of commercial buildings.
I love the name, but it has one major flaw, "Renaissance" is a very hard word to spell correctly.

If you love the name, then you need to educate people how to spell and say it:

    Ren-ai-ssance

    or, try another language:

Rinascimento Stone and Tile Care (in Italian, instead of French)

    or, a variation:

Renascence Stone and Tile Care (an alternate spelling, but also a famous poem by Edna St. Vincent Millay)

Thanks for your input but the the variations, you suggested, are just as hard to spell and I suspect only a very tiny percentage of the population would know what they mean.

Thanks for the response, I feel a lot better now.
To overcome the spelling problem, with the url, I have registered stoneandtilecare.co.nz. for my website.
As for the visual branding I have a logo I am very proud of. It is three tiles shaped like a mountain rising up, like the sun, from behind a slightly curved horizontal line. It embodies in a simple, abstract way almost exactly what I do.
The logo also looks great in any single colour, meaning it will be relatively cheap to produce marketing material such as business cards etc. I have chosen white against magenta as my colour scheme as magenta has allusions to a prestige service
As for the pronunciation, in New Zealand it is always pronounced as rennih-SONCE. The context I hear it most often spoken is in sports commentaries when a team makes a comeback after being seemingly obliterated by the opposition

    Thanks again
    Don
