Help With Naming A Company Newsletter

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
I am developing a newsletter for internal associates with the possibility of also sharing it with our external customers. I plan to write copy that will be appropriate for both. The goal of the newsletter is to improve our communications and make everyone aware of what is happening within all departments of the company. I am having a hard time deciding on a name - I am open to all creative suggestions!

A little about the company...we sell air operated double diaphragm pumps and we market primarily to distributors that sell our product.

Thanks for your help!

I agree with Phil. Unless the information is so general that it is really intended just to keep your name in front of everyone.

Let me off subject make a suggestion. I would design a newletter for your distributor channel that provides information and ideas for improving their sales success. There are far too many newsletters in general, and not enough providing great information to distributors. I know I have been working with Industrial Oriented Distributors for over 30 years.

Good thoughts above. The glut of newsletters around the globe is a fabulous example of how humans fail to communicate most of the time. New newsletters are only viable for narrow audiences and only if they're pithy and utilitarian.

Subscription based is a consideration, too. Who reads a newsletter s/he didn't sign up for?

I do believe you could craft a true Industry/product-driven news letter that would appeal to both employees and Distributors of your products, who are really just an external sales force for the company. The letter could use the famous Macy's-style of even talking about competitive products to show that you're not afraid to be compared with them.

This communication opportunity is especially relevant, as your market is very focused and specific, and many of your clients and competitors still communicate this way very successfully. You could even become the Industry information source if you broaden your perspective to include Industry-wide information.

But tread carefully in your writing style, and how you promote your products so that it doesn't just get viewed as an advertising vehicle. A little bit of humour and editorial objectivity and introspection may help you become more real with your Distributors, and open more doors for the Sales Department.

In Europe and the Eastern Industrialized Nations, and even the American Heartland, this form of communication is very popular and successful, and if it translates to an e-letter, it could significantly help expand your own distribution network, which would make you a very popular guy from Sales to the CEO.

The name should convey your Company brand and or identity somehow so that when people see it, be they employees or Distributors, or even their customers, they are proud to be associated with it.

    What about:

    "The Double Pump"
    "Inside the Pump"
    "The Pressure Source"
    "More Than Air"
    "The Pressure Pump"
    "Air Pump"
    "Rarefied Air"

    Good luck with it all...
