Differentiating Point For My Logo Design Service..

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hello Smart Marketers,

I am in the phase of launching my logo design website targeting start-ups and businesses with branding issues. I need suggestions to create a point of differentiation. I have researched a lot of problems of potential customers but can not find any persistent or lingering problem that has not been solved by the competition. And hence not been able to design a differentiated offer.

The problem is, when I conduct research over the internet and skim through forums, blogs, Q & A sites and etc..., people are talking about more or less the same problems like adaptability (logo printing issues), lack of designing skills of the small business owners, lack of financial sources to have a full-time designer, logos not reflecting the business nature etc

Can any out-of-the-box thinker give me suggestion(s) on problem(s) that has been there for a while and not resolved yet by logo design firms, so I can design my differentiating strategy around it?

The first thing I would do is not position the company you start as a "logo design company"
You limit yourself right from the start by saying that.
Small start ups have no clue about the intricacies of branding (as well as big companies...) and the notion that you offer them a "logo" to solve the "branding" issue is wrong.
Some may come to you and say:"design me a logo" and than they may go away with that design and do unprofessional things with it.
Position yourself better, and make sure that you can deliver what you promise, not over promise and not under promise.
Give up the "logo design service" approach, its limiting, and not promising anything special, anybody with a Mac can do that.

If you can show how your logos have been responsible for a small business' success, that would be ideal.

Next best, is studying which logos have been successful for small businesses (and why), and being able to present the right type of logo for a company, that would be wonderful.

If you specialize in a specific niche (online small businesses, businesses in your region, agricultural businesses, etc.), then you can develop your sense for specific imagery, typefaces, etc. that work for the niche and market yourself more efficiently.

There is a difference between a logo and a brand. Brands cost money to build.

Designing only a logo will not be a profitable business for you.

People will not pay to much just for a logo and you would have to do many epr week to pay the bills.

You need to offer a full corporate branding service.
