Need Tagline For Wedding Videographer

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Need help coming up with a catchy tagline that is targeted to couples getting married and also differs our company from the competition.

Company name is Glass Eye Video.

Here are some things that we want to get across.

Produce cinematic wedding films that are reflective of each couple's individuality that also tells a meaningful and engaging story. Some buzz words also that we have come up with compelling, distinct, impactful, engaging, emotional, cinematic, storytelling or storytellers.

We also offer a lot of unique options that a lot of others in the area don't like a same day edit, trash the dress, save the date videos, techniques like color filtering, etc.

This has been really difficult coming up with something because we have a lot of things we offer, however we want it to be short, catchy and is memorable.

A tagline that is effective takes some thought and also need to get some reaction (test marketing) from your intended audience. In other words, it's not something you want to rush into.

The current name of your company is a bit, shall we say, unique? A glass eye is a prosthetic replacement for a regular eye - are you sure that's what you want to say?

Much of what you mention above is speaking in your (videographer) terminology - cinematic, color filtering, etc. (I do video work) - I'm not so sure your wedding audience understands those terms or that they are reasons they would choose you.

In looking for a tag line, first do a review of your competition - what do they say? See what terms are cliches, and how often certain terms are used. You want to communicate in terms that your potential customers understand and think a relevant for their needs (wedding videography)

Secondly, listen carefully to what your prospective customers ask for when you are pitching them. They may or may not understand what to look for - if not - then your sales pitch may, in fact, need to be an educational process. (Not terminology, but the "look" of the video.)

I have found that many times people are not really aware of the application of video techniques to different situations - e.g. recording seminars, web video, weddings, etc. They often don't know what can be done by a creative professional.

You may ask what it is they want from the video, what they have seen that they liked, and get a general sense of their expectations and thought process. This will give you a sense of how to appeal to them.

Another avenue might be to talk to fellow professionals who recommend videographers (such as still photographers, wedding planners, etc.) and ask them why they recommend those videographers - listen carefully for the terms they use - however, this assumes that they are not motivated by a referral fee.

All of this is a lot of marketing research. But if you ask enough questions you will get get some interesting information - which will help you obtain the insights you are looking for.

Thanks so much Phil, I really like those.

J Geibel, I really appreciate your input and I do agree with you. On the glass eye video, we picked this name 5 years ago when we started the company. Glass Eye meaning the glass eye of a camera lens.

However we have been contimplating changing the name of our company. It is a hard thing to do when you have built a reputation and grown our business substantially this year with our current name. With changing our name, we do fear people would think we did something wrong. We also fear that we would be starting all over again with a new name. That means recreating everything which is a very labor and expensive process.

I don't know if we are in a position to do this, however much we want to change to something that more represents who we are now.

just an initial thought, what about a play on wedding lingo - instead of i do, since you are a company how about:
    we do... wedding video
    we do... wedding photography
we do... create a lasting impression
    we do... glass eye video
    we do... capture your romance
    we do... distinctive video

as your business continues to grow this could be easily incorporated into many different avenues. and it could easily be used in a variety of media.
