Need New Name For Exciting Software Company

Posted by Anonymous on 2525 Points
Hi folks- We are about to launch a newco for a very exciting product. Our software and Software as a Service provides an innovative methodology and proprietary software that enables manufacturers to increase shareholder value by achieving 95%+ perfect order fulfillment, and generating an additional 1% profit margin for every 3% gain in their perfect order fill rates. Our software associates with each incoming customer order all of the resources that are required to fulfill that order perfectly addressing the potential for risks due to resource and manufacturing productivity shortfalls. (Note the average mfg. has a 27% perfect order fulfillment rate. The best mfgs. are at 60-68%) We are able to tangibly raise productivity and bring a healthier margin to the bottom line.)

We initially thought R2XO (Ready to Execute Orders) but now need a different name that can be TMed. And would also appreciate assistance for the product name.

    It appears you're in the process of getting trademark protection: https://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=smo3mf.2.1

    You can also use USPTO's website to do your own trademark search (in the US): https://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?f=searchss&state=295k0l.1.1 (Note: you'll want to also ensure international protection: https://www.ladas.com/Trademarks/IntTMProtection/IntlTM01.html or https://library.findlaw.com/2003/Oct/17/133095.html)

    I wouldn't suggest using the name of the product that's the same as your company - it'll be confusing and limiting in the future. Instead, choose a name that helps to identify who it helps and what it does for them, for example:
    * Perfect Orders
    * Bulleye Orders
    * Manufacturing Orders
    * ManuOrders
    * OrderEZ

    Jay's right about trademarking. You can do a search through the trademark office. You can also hire an attorney to help you wade through the waters which can be rather confusing.

    Having learned from experience, the US Patent and Trademark Office will take your money and application even if you will not be able to get the trademark, so do your due diligence up front. On the flip side the fee is rather small comapred to what attorney's charge, so maybe you go it on your own and having to make a couple of applications. Either way do as much searching as possible before submitting.

    Yor company name could almost be anything, the more important is probably to product name.

    For a company it could be:
    Something to do with the founders names Smith Industries, or Smith Software
    Something made up like IndustriWare

    For the product:
    Order to Ship
    Assemebly to Ship
    PTS - Parts to Ship
    Efficient Orders
    Easy Order Fulfillment
    Accurate Order Fulfillment
    Simplified Order Fulfullment Today - SOFT
    POW - Perfect Order Ware

    Hope this helps,
    Mike

    Could you simply re-arrange a few things and drop another:

    "ERO (Execute Ready Orders)"

    or go the Adobe route:

    "Execute"

    or go simple:

    "Order Sorter"

    or go imaginative:

    "Order Avalanche"

    I like some of the ideas above; here's my quick spin...

    OXX - Order Execution Express
    Order Ready Xpress (Order RX)
    Efficient Order Solution
    Order Xecution Solution
    Efficient Order Execution (Efficient OX or just EOX)
    Efficient Execution PRO (or EX PRO)

    Hope these help...

    "Perfect Order" - probably better as a product name than company name.

    I would be interested in hearing why R2XO wont work. I think that it is Ok for a name (though I would up and register the web site for r2x0 - using a zero - to catch those cases where people mistype the name).
