Tagline For A Language Translations Company

We have a translations company, P & L Translations, targeting businesses and other organizations in Nashville. We do not handle personal documents (birth certificates, transcripts, etc.).

As we work on establishing our brand, we would like to have a memorable tagline. We have discarded quite a few options; the only one left is "When it comes to translations, we mean business". I'm worried about it sounding too hokey and would appreciate input or other suggestions from you brilliant marketers!

    I have read your website and give it some thoughts.

    P & L: language services that fits your needs.

    The name of the business is P & L translations while you offer much more then only a translation service. If you are at the start of branding your services I would take a change of name into consideration if I were you.

    I once was kind of impressed by the explanation of a translation bureau that explains to me that they have a procedure where one is responsible for making the actual translation and 2 others do the task of reviewing the translation. Only if both the reviewers accept the translation it is handed to the paying costumer. This explains why the service charged EUR 0,17 per word while there are other services that charges less (starting at EUR 0,12).

    Why I write this is that if you go for high quality it isn't that wise that "you keep the eye on the money".

    I agree with the comments above, although I do not see changing the name of the company a MUST. While your company name does not have anything to do with translations, you do have the word "translations" in your domain name.

    Regarding your tagline, I would recommend against including a price promotion. I have checked out your website and in my opinion you are trying to provide value and not price, so I would go for "faster", "accurate", "native-language" or whatever your value-differentiation is and stay away from price. (you can always do price promotions at any given time).

    Finally, please spend $200 on hiring a professional copy writer for your tagline. Figure out your target audience, positioning comparing to your competition and have a professional writer do a good job for you. In my experience, it is worth every cent. www.elance.com is a good source for freelance writers.

    I also agree with Erik, Eva and Phil re: P&L Translations as a relatively weak identity.
    You may want to do a values exercise with a group of 4-5 people at your company, that may help you distill some concepts down for a tagline and/or corporate identity.
