Need A Catchy Tagline For Unique Baby Items

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I need a catchy tagline for a new online sales website that features uniquely packaged baby gifts. The name of my business is Whistledink and the logo is a whistling elephant.

Just a few of the items I will offer are an iPood diaper changing kit, Stin Ki Pu take-out bags filled with containers of sock "sushi", green tee, etc. and a Got Milk? galvanized pail full of nursing items for the breastfeeding mother. These gift baskets are exclusive to my company.

I may eventually offer other baby items such as wraps, diaper bags, and nursing covers so my tagline can't be too limiting.

Please help! Thanks!

    Hi, lavernandshirley
It sounds like you'll have some fun with that. Here are a few ideas.

    Trendsetters are born, not made.

They're never too young to be this hip.

Or, to play off the elephant:
Gifts as memorable as your favorite tune.

Send a gift that will never be forgotten.

    Good luck!

It would help us a lot if we knew a little more about what you're trying to communicate with your tagline.

For starters, why should someone purchase from you? Is it just because you have cute names for your products, or is there something about the products that are better in some way than other products on the market? What do your products have in common with each other that make you different/better? Is it just an image thing?

Who is your primary target audience -- mothers, grandparents, friends, family? Where do they live? How often do they purchase your products? The more narrowly you can define your target, the better job we'll be able to do coming up with a great tagline. If you try to appeal to everyone, you'll probably do a sub-optimal job.

Why do you want a tagline? Is it to explain the name? Or is there some other reason? What will be different when you have a tagline? How do you get people to your website? Where/how do you advertise?

Finally, how will you know when we come up with a winning tagline? What are the criteria by which you'll judge and pick a tagline?

These are all questions for which we'd need answers if we're really going to be able to help you come up with the right tagline.

Here are the answers to Staff's questions:

    Q. Why should someone purchase from you?
    A. My "gift baskets" are useful, appeal to modern parents and will stand out in the crowd at baby showers, birthday parties, etc.

    Q. What do your products have in common with each other that make you different/better?
    A. The difference is primarily in the presentation. Each gift package has a theme often derived from modern pop-culture. Also, the packages are assembled on-site and inspected for design quality.

    Q. Who is your primary target audience -- mothers, grandparents, friends, family?
    A. My target audience is family and friends that are looking for new ways to give practical baby gifts, such as diapers & wipes or layettes, yet they lack the time or talent to create their own gift basket.

    Q. Where does the target audience live?
    A. I'll ship to anywhere in the U.S. including Alaska and Hawaii

    Q. How often do they purchase your products?
    A. Anytime they need a baby gift (i.e. for birth/adoption, baptism, first birthday, holidays)

    Q. Why do you want a tagline?
    A. To aid in branding and to help the customer remember my company when they're looking to purchase a baby gift or are recommending my products to other potential customers.

    Q. How do you get people to your website?
    A. Primarily through search engines but can also type in the URL or through other websites that have exchanged links

    Q. Where/how do you advertise?
    A. Through search engines, information swaps/ link exchanges, local distribution of business cards and word of mouth. Marketing plan will eventually include advertising in local and possibly nationally distributed parent magazines.

    Q. Finally, how will you know when we come up with a winning tagline? What are the criteria by which you'll judge and pick a tagline?
    A. Can I say I'll know when I see it ;-) Seriously though, I'm searching for a tagline that differentiates my company from competitors; it needs to be strategic and meaningful and not one that just anyone selling baby gift baskets can use.

I test-marketed several of my baby gift baskets and received such rave reviews that I was prompted to develop an e-commerce site. The name WhistleDink (Phil, thanks for the suggestion to capitalize the D) is a childhood nickname and the elephant in my logo came from a favorite toy if that helps any?!

Thanks to everyone who answered! Special thanks to Phil for the suggestion to capitalize the D in my company name.

I like Babbsela's "Fresh gifts for hip babies" but I'm wondering if I should just launch my website without a tagline and develop one as my company develops.

Thanks again for all of the help!
