Need Postcard Headline For Italian Deli

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We are an Italian Deli and will be launching a postcard direct mail campaign. We specialize in sub sandwiches. We intend on targeting businesses in our area. Should our headline be Free Sub with your purchase of 4 subs? It seems too wordy. Please, can you help with a good headline and also a tagline. Also, do we need to add coupons on the postcard. Thank you for your help.

We really don't want to be portrayed as a deli that sells subs at a volume discount, but we don't really know what we should offer customers in the headline. Shouldn't our offer be apparent in the headline?

    Our name is Albano's Deli.

We are hoping someone might have a good headline/offer that will get some responses. We are targeting local business for lunchtime.

    Thank you very kindly!

I would add a coupon on the non-glossy side, the side that you address.

What sets your deli apart from others? Is it atmosphere, location, quality of the sandwich.

If you are targeting businesses, do you have delivery service? Do you take fax or email orders? Do you have a website that allows people to place an order online? Businesses are usually ordering for multiple poeple and like to place their order ahead of time.

If you had a website you could use the postcard to drive people to that to look at the menu and place an order. Even if the website had a pdf of an order form that people could fax in or email in or at a minium get their order organized to phone in. The faxed in is probably the easist to do. As you wouldn't need to have someone sitting by the computer.

The key for businesses will be to make the ordering process easy for multiple sandwiches and to have their order ready when they get there. If this is your main goal you will want to empahsize this on the post card. I do think you will want to offer a discount to get people to try you the first time.

    Hope this helps,\

How about "Free Sub Friday" or "The Free Lunch Program"? The small print is if they purchase a sub on Monday-Thursday, Friday is free (buy 4 get 1 free).

With postcards you should be always be short, sweet and to the point. It should display what your business does in a snap shot and entice your customer to call, especially because your selling food.

I don't agree with Phil on the size of the postcard. I have gotten a few extra large post cards before they get thrown in the trash or lost faster than the average size post card, simply because they look like all the other paper on my desk (I guess that’s my fault for being unorganized).

My vision is a picture of a few of your most delicious subs on the glossy side with a tag line at the top that says something about a frequent purchaser reward program or a limited time offer of one free sub on Fridays with the purchase of # of others. One the other side your website should be clearly displayed with a line about ordering online. You should really just use the entire postcard as your coupon, doing this will save you space.

On your website you definitely need an online ordering system or fax at the bare minimum. This will make it easier and more convenient for customers at work to order from your site and if done correctly can allow you to monitor where they are coming from in order to get to your page. I would also include on your online order page in bold at the top that delivery to businesses is free or extremely discounted.

Let me know how it goes...I would love to see what happens. Good luck!
