Recruitment: Internal Newsletter Name?

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
I work for a recruitment company that specialises in placing white-collar technical, engineering, rail and IT personnel.

Our internal newsletter currently stands at about 19 pages in PDF format (completely packed with "wordy" articles) which is why we need a BIG revamp!

As well as conducting a staff survey to find out their thoughts / suggestions, I was hoping that I could get some help on here with title / content ideas...?

Currently, the wonderful heading is "[company name] Internal Newsletter" so I would appreciate help with:
a) a title for the newsletter
b) suggestions for different sections
b) some decent headings for these sections

So far I've come up with...
- Sales overview (for the recruitment side of the business)
- Support overview (for finance, payroll, HR, etc)
- Employee focus
- Appointments (there are always new people starting)
- Social gatherings (we have offices globally so this would be to inform our staff about different cultural events, etc - not just the "work's do")
- Quote of the month
- Testimonials (where someone's good work is acknowledged)

I would really appreciate all ideas / suggestions. Thank you!

Thanks for the prompt response Phil. Having not previously be responsible for the newsletter or its contents, I am under no illusions about the extent of the clean-up required, which is why I have started with a request for support!

I didn't mention that the newsletter is currently issued quarterly, which I would expect to become monthly along with reducing the volume of content.

Any further comments would be most welcome...

Let the newsletter be about the employees, not about the company. Phil hinted to that already, and I cannot state that more clearly. If employees get the feeling it is yet another piece of mandatory reading, then they will not read it.

But what is the purpose of the newsletter? Is it to push work-related knowledge to the employees? Or is it about building a close-nit team? Especially the second objective means you need to focus on the people. Possibly let them submit items or ideas, which you then build into a story.

I cannot suggest any title, especially if it needs to convey a sense of team-spirit. Your team culture might actually provide angles for the title. Or your employees might help you there. That would get the internal PR around the newsletter rolling immediately.
