Tagline For Our Import/wholesale Company

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
Hi there, hope you can help as I am going crazy trying to think of the right words for our tagline.

Our importing company needs a tagline suitable for increasing B2B and consumer awareness of our "brand", and also look good to prospective suppliers. This tagline may inspire the logo designer (we are developing a new logo), which will in turn be used to direct the design of our new website (10-12 weeks away). You can look at our old website to get a better idea of what we do: [inactive link removed].

Name: Libertas Pacific Limited.

Libertas (Latin for freedom)
Pacific (we are located in NZ, so Pacific for Pacific Ocean).

We specialise in sourcing quality apparel products from Europe, USA, South America - we never import from China as our part of the world is flooded with cheap imports from China. We are a small, evolving company that focuses on giving great service to our customers - we are very flexible in our attitude to our retailers.

Our products currently include intimate apparel/shapewear, hosiery, expanding into cotton t-shirts, and loungewear/sleepwear by the time the website is live.

The website will serve as an online catalogue and ordering system for our wholesale accounts, plus we will sell direct to the public (at same prices as the shops we supply - no undercutting, although we will run-out discontinued lines).

If the tagline is to relate to our company name it should probably be to the first word: Libertas, as we also have a print company (Libertas Print) that specialises in direct-to-garment printing. This service will also be offered on our website.

Every word combination I come up with sounds like a big fat cliché! EG global sources, local knowledge. A friend suggested "International prestige, pacific essence" but I feel that "prestige" is a bit overdone. And "pacific essence" sounds like a frangipani perfume

Key points to consider communicating:
- quality (but not that word, too common) products
- personalised service (definitely not those words!)
- international sources (ditto)
- freedom to choose quality products at affordable prices
- colourful choices (the t-shirts will be our own brand - i.e. we will re-label with 2-3 sub-brands - so we want to work on promoting these items, will offer large colour range, something missing in our market at this time)
- local knowledge

Perhaps "boutique" might work somewhere.

The logo will be quite colourful - probably orange, blue and green (not definite yet).

Your suggestions are so welcome - I can't wait to read them!

Thank you.

I think the key value proposition for your customers is that you source the very best items of their kind (within the fashion field) no matter where they come from.

So perhaps the tag line might be:

    + Fashion from the world

To add the "prestige" feeling you were suggesting (and I think that the imported auto business tends to own the word "prestige") you could employ a word like Fine or Quality, e.g.

+ Fine fashion from the world
+ Quality fashion from the world

If the "from the world" part is a problem (I was trying to avoid using the word "global" which is hackneyed and sounds like some kind of scam business) there are other alternatives such as "international" or "cosmopolitan", e.g.

    + Fine International Fashion
    + Cosmopolitan Fine Fashion
    + Quality International Fashion
    + Quality Cosmopolitan Fashion

    Hope that helps

As far as i can suggest the tagline needs to be short and needs to communicate part of brand essence and company's business vision. like Samsung's tagline "Next is What"

    Here are some options

    1- Inspired Dressing Ideas
    2- Global Fashion Village
    3- Redefine Fashion Sense
    4- Inspire your imagination
    5- Global Knowledge Local Hands

Hi everyone, thank you for your quick response. I value each of your replies, and I think that some of you have really understood my issues about how some words are over-used and end up insinuating the opposite e.g. quality (in NZ this is over-used, especially by importers of cheap rubbish!).

My favourites are: International Style - Delivered (thanks, Jay), Global Fashion Village (thanks, Sadain - think we might also be able to play around with Global Knowledge, Local Hands).

I also think that Chris B's "Fine Fashion from the World" has possibilities (maybe replacing Fashion with Apparel).

Thanks for your comment, Phil. After all these years we certainly understand the importance of planning and wise and appropriate investment of funds; the tagline should simply be a concise description to increase understanding and/or repeat the message of what the company is/does.

Thanks also to Jane, Neha and Mikee.

I will leave open for one more day then award points.

    Thanks again, Valeria.
