Need A Catchy Tag Line For Eco-friendly Site.

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Would love it if someone could help me come up with a tag line for my site. We're an affiliate site which offers eco-friendly furniture and accessories for the home. We also have personal accessories too. I need a great, catchy tag line to help with branding. Because we're an affiliate site, we source our products from all over, we want to be the one-stop-shop for all things eco-friendly for the home. We need a tag line that is to the point, catchy and lets people know who we are. The name is the site is Modern Eco Homes. Any thoughts??

First let me caution you. Eco friendly is a feature not a benefit. Today things have evolved so that I challenge to find a manufacturer or product with some enviro claim. It may be an eco isolationism claim, but will have a claim to be made. That is why there are ANSI, ASTM (I'm on the ASTM committee) standards being made-- everything is LCA, life cycle analysis. Or the 3 P's, people, product, planet

So you'll have to delve deep to get the benefit-- cause "green' alone isn't enough anymore. When I talk about this issue I tell people first thing to help the environment is to choose a long lasting product. 2nd is to pay attention to the indoor air quality-- as that is what we breath eand the cause of sick buildings. And Americans spend 90% of their time indoors. So besides green - what are the unique attributes of your products?

I like the tagline on the bottom of the page, Eco Friendly products for an eco friendly home. Natural, Green and Eco Friendly are synonymous and somewhat redundant. I think you should stress long lasting-- and the sustainable way they are made. And how -- like the wine rack, and how the purchase benefits community. Your 3 P's might be people, planet, products.

Assuming part of your requirements for carrying a product is a low to no carbon footprint...

A footprint for your home, not for the planet.(tm)

    Hi Kristen,

I think you should try to profile your customers before you try for a tagline.

In my experience, consumers that seek out green products (as opposed to those that happen upon them as an alternative) are, as Carol said, a little polarized by the terms 'eco' and 'green'. They presumably will have found your site by way of a search engine term like "green furniture" or "eco" so they don't really need to told that again in your tagline.

Simplicity is key here... Look at your affiliates tagline: "meaningful, modern, living"

    Simple and to the point.

Instead of describing your business or what you sell, describe how they will feel, be emotive. I'll put my mind to it and get back to you with some examples.

A book that has become a classic in the enviro movement is called the Triple Bottom Line-- he talks about the 3 P's-- People Planet Profit. Its not enough to make a product and call it green, via something like recycled content. It must be made in an sustainable manner, the people producing it must be treated fairly and yes, we are here for a profit.

Unless you clearly can back up a statement on carbon footprint -- I would not go there. As long as we are consuming we have a footprint. Even with recycled content, you have a footprint. I also would avoid carbon offsets-- they've become the snake oil peddlers of the movement.

    Hi

    love the site

    Carols comments are correct.

But as a tagline Eco-Friendly Products For An Eco-Friendly Home! tells them what you do.

    other taglines you could use

"eco friendly products sold here - naturally"

    Regards
