What Do You Think Of Koalabi As A Brand?

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
Hi Profs - been a while

I am looking for opinions about a brand name and strap line that my client likes.

"Koalabi" and the tag "Your Fashion Our Passion" there is also a graphic of a paw print.

I don't want to say what this brand does - yet - I want your ideas about what it could be about, what does it mean and how do you feel about it.

Looking forward to hearing from you, and please say where you are from.

Michelle

I had trouble figuring out how Koalabi would be pronounced. Maybe make me think it is an African word.

The tag line makes me think it is related to fashion/clothing.

    koala be? Very Australian.

You could go with a tag line that either reflects the tourist's view of a cuddly koala or an Australian's view about something that has attitude and urinates on foreign tourists that think it is 'cute'.

It depends on the demographics your client is marketing to

I too think "Koala Bee" when I see it. This immeadiately made me think children's clothes/toys for some reason. I Hope that is what they sell.

Koalabi means absolutely nothing to me. Unless you plan to spend a lot of money on advertising to link that name to a positioning benefit, I'd find another name.

If forced, I'd say it sounds more African than Australian ... but that may be because I read it as ko-a-LA-bee, not ko-ALA-bee.

The "duh" in me was thinking it was like Kohlrabi - (a type of cabbage) before I sounded out Koala in the word.

Guess that puts me in goodman camp more than the others.

    Good luck!

Yes, I was thinking Kohl Rabi too. Great minds huh?

When analysing the word more carefully I see Koala, and Bi... And I'm even more confused.

Why not call them Bogan Boots? The business could be renamed The Bogan Boot Company. (BBC for short!)

Everyone calls them Bogan Boots anyway - even though lots of non-Bogans wear them (OK, I own a pair for wearing round the house). You'd be capitalising on the informal and widely known name, and give everyone a laugh in the process.

Go on, give it a go...

    Cheers

Michelle - Although it is a bit dated, is there anyway you can tie in with Dundee? (Even though he has skipped town because of back taxes or something.) How about Dunders (as in Down Unders)?

    Good Luck and Merry Christmas!
