Need Name For Christian Foster Care Agency

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I need help with the naming of a Christian foster care agency that works through local churches to create "networks of caregivers" (essentially a small group ministry model) to build foster family capacity and improve the stability and quality of care provided to children in need.

Think of a hub/spoke type visual where the foster families/children are in the middle with caring supporters that offer respite care, transportation, counseling, healthcare, etc. at the end of the spokes. A name that evokes this hub/spoke or circular, spherical model would be great.

Prefer to steer clear of names with "foster" in them and also to focus on the family vs. the child in the name/tagline/message. Looking for something that draws out positive images vs. poor, neglected kids.

Thoughts?!

Hi, Susan. As a nonprofit marketer, I believe that agency names should reflect what they do, as they can't always afford to market themselves in big ways.

At first, I thought the name should be very simple, like Family Caregiving Network or Family CareNet. Then, I thought it may be advantageous to add in a Christian element and call it the Caregiving Angels Network. After all, the volunteers who support these foster families are guardian angels in many ways.

A tagline could be: Supporting foster families with care and love

I think the word, "foster" is an important thing to add. It only has a negative connotation if used negatively. The term means to nurture or surrogate, hardly a bad thing. Besides, you need the word in order to fundraise and build your brand. Otherwise, what differentiates your mission?

That's my two cents. Feel free to contact me if you need professional assistance.

Pulling the hub/spoke visual into perspective:

    Circle of Caring
    Circle of Support
    Center for Support
    Sphere of Caregivers

Adding "Christian" to any of the above would promote the Christian support of the network.

    Christian Circle of Caring
    Christian Circle of Support
    Christian Center for Support
    Sphere of Christian Caregivers

Wings in the abstract in the Bible symbolize shelter. Yet shelter makes me think more of meeting just basic needs whereas growth denotes moving forward.

Some suggestions incorporating the "wings" symbolism:

    Wings of Hope
    Wings of Shelter
    Wings of Growth and Stability
    Wings for Growth and Stability
    Wings of Growth
    Wings for Growth

The word wings also symbolizes the wings of a house, organization, etc. extending from the central portion of the structure - each wing offering something of its own.

I like the use of "faith" but think you are losing the "network" quality in that name as you originally posted.
