Need A Tagline For A B2b Software Company

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
We are a company that sells software that cleans up customer data in large business applications and databases. The software corrects bad addresses, finds and consolidates duplicate records, provides search mechanisms that make finding customer records easy and also augments your data. Being very easy to use is one of the major differentiators of our product.

We sell primarily to large companies, but will be launching a product shortly that will also target SMBs. At the time of launch, we will change the name of our company to Acme Data. Our current website is www.stalworth.com.

I am looking for a tagline that conveys two things: 1) that the customer will get what they want but have found so illusive, great customer data the way they want it, 2) that it will be very easy, that our product eliminates the pain normally associated with complex software products.

I am hoping that the tagline will sound smart, creative and compelling and that it will be relatively short and sticky.

This is my first experience with MarketingProfs. I am feeling optimistic. Thanks in advance for any help.

    To Phil Grisolia:

I appreciate strong criticism. I actually prefer it. I want to get the right answers and I think that sometimes only strong scrutiny gets you there.

It's funny that you use the ice cream analogy. Vanilla accounts for 30% of all ice cream sales while butter pecan accounts for only 4% (I was surprised it was that much).

Alphabetically, Acme Data gets us to the top of most lists (like analysts lists). In enterprise software sales, that can be important. I think Acme is sticky. Either it reminds you of the Road Runner cartoon, or if you went to B school, it is likely that it was constantly used as an example company.

Stalworth is hard to spell and hard to hear. We say Stalworth and people say "Star Wars?". We came up with the name when we were a consulting company.

But I do appreciate the feedback. Butter Pecan? Are you from the South?

    What names do you like?

I'd go with Phil. Acme is a bit of a tired cliche like Newco and the other internal names for new businesses that hang around while someone tries to find a better name. It has no stand out for me and everyone sells vanilla. It also sells all the duff products to Wily E Coyote.

Since you want a name that starts with A I'd go for something like

alfresco data - making it a breeze to refresh your data

abraca data - magicking away data problems

alpha data - the first and easiest data cleaning

angus data - data cleaning, no bull

agnos data - the knowledge to clean

ax data - slice through data problems

Aachen Data - Data cleaning with German efficiency

Acme Data - Top speed data cleaning

Abe Data - Lincoln your data together
