Need Serious Help With A Name! Please!!!

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi Everyone,

I own an organic and gluten free bakery in Whitby Ontario Canada called Cup of Tea Bakery and Cafe (www.cupoftea.ca). Based on the fact that we are the only one in our area that offers such a wide array of healthy treats, we are being asked to wholesale our products.

As you can imagine, we can not very well build a brand around Cup of Tea as it might have a nice ring for a retail store (we also sell tea obviously), but not for a reseller to sell our bread under.

I have done some brainstorming and come up with some key words and names, but I am SERIOUSLY stuck! Any help would be appreciated and if we end up using something that you come up with, we would gladly ship you some tea and goodies to say thanks. Here is what I have so far (excuse the randomness).

1) Health
2) Healthies
3) Vitality
4) Concious (playing up the socially concious consumer)
5) Whole (as in "whole foods")
6) Wholesome
7) Good For You
8) Nutritious
9) Organic
10) Bakehouse
11) Bakery
12) Bake Shop
13) Bake Shoppe
14) Energy
15) Antioxidant
16) By The Earth
17) From The Earth
18) Wild Flour

The matter-of-factness of your cafe name adds a charm it would be a pity to lose

You've probably already done it, but if not make sure your customers who want you to wholesale your products are OK with a new brand...they may WANT to sell under the brand, "Cup of Tea." Hoewver, if that is NOT the case, here are some conservative and not-so-conservative concepts to consider:

    Harmonic Bakery

    Wholistic Bakery (intended spelling!)

    Tranquility Foods

    Fit Foods

    What Pretty Flours!

    Fabulous Flours

    GotNoGluten

    GoodFood

I agree with John that you should first make sure your customers want you to market under a new brand or name. Even if they do, you can still play off the original name somehow, perhaps with taglines. Here are a few suggestions ...

    Cup of Tea Goods
    Wholesome Goodness for Your Body

    Treat Yourself

    Wholesome Tea & Treats

    Earthy Goodness

    Cup of Tea Treats

    Organic Goodness

    Organic Tea & Treats

    A Whole New Goodness

    GoodEats
Tea & Treats from the Earth

    Good luck with your endeavor.

As someone who needs your gluten-free products, I would like to have some understanding of that benefit in the name. So.. how about "Free and Fabulous"

Is the bread gluten-free? If so, then emphasize that so it's clear what your difference is.

If you're emphasizing the organic aspect you could play off the word earthy and make the new brand "Earth Eats".

I do however agree with the others that you should definitely verify that your current prospects are not already set on the brand being Cup of Tea.

I agree that you should try to play off your original name.

My idea would be to go with:

"Cup of Tea and Healthy Eats"

Thank you very much for the wonderful suggestions - after much consideration, we have decided to name our new company Wild Earth. We were really taken with Kevin's suggestion and since our own idea (Wild Flour) was taken in all of its variations, this was an excellent fit! Well done Kevin and many thanks!!!
