Need Help With Tagline Ideas

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I need some help coming up with a good tagline for my company. Its a small environmental, health and safety consulting company. We have been in business for over one year. Most of our clients are word of mouth due to our networking and experience. Rigth now we are hirer because of our individual reputations versus the company itself. We want to begin transferring the individual branding to the company brand and want a tagline to help with this. The company name is Cornerstone EHS. Our customers are small to very large companies (oil, chemical, printing, etc.). We provide expertise in solving their EHS problems or additional resources if they are too busy. We would like to differentiate ourselves from our competitors who tend to be much larger. We believe that we offer superior services. We used to be in the same positions as the people who would now hire us so we understand their needs and are able to quickly fit ourselves into their organization with minimal handholding. We are able to identify solutions that are practical, really work and are sustainable particularly for those companies that have limited resources to dedicate to EHS activities. Words that I am thinking of incorporating - Experts, Partners, Simple, Practical, Effective, Foundation, Solving Real Problems with Simple Solutions, etc. Emotions - partnering, we fit in, Part of the team, long-term relationship with customer, reliable, who you call when you are in trouble, etc. Just because we are small does not mean that we are necessarilary inexpensive. Want to be viewed as worth the cost, professional, experts, etc. Companies tend to hire the big name consultants because of their name not necessarily their level of service however, these large consulting firms do not seem to have good track record of meeting customer needs. Thats where we come in. We want to offer clients an alternative.

First off, drop the generic biz-school speak. There are countless taglines that some MBA thought up that are completely meaningless to the consumer. "The Trusted Experts", "When Experience Counts", "Quality, Reliability and Professionalism", taglines like this mean absolutely NOTHING. They don't convey anything worthwhile - in fact they cause the viewer's brain to shut down ("Seen it. Next.") Also, most taglines like this could apply to nearly any business in the industry, or even any business anywhere.

You say that you've been in your prospect's shoes and you know what's important to them. That's your most important advantage for coming up with the tagline. What is it that is most important to them? Build your tag around that, not some pointless and vague, generic fluff. Say it specifically, in a way that doesn't cause the viewer's brain to go on autopilot.

"When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight".
"Delivered in 30 minutes or it's free".
Those are great taglines, because they actually say something that the PROSPECT cares about, and they're easy to remember.
Use what you know about your prospect's needs - boil it down to the most pressing issue that you can solve for them and use it as your tag.
