Seeking Name For Martial Arts Equipment Business

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi, I am starting a business selling traditional martial arts, boxing and kickboxing training equipment in Australia, and trying to think of a brand name.

The business will sell branded equipment such as boxing bags, gloves, kick shields, punch shields, protective equipment and sports clothing. The equipment will be of high quality and marketed online to consumers (target audience will be active males and females aged 16-40). It will also be offered to martial art schools, personal trainers and retail outlets to resell.

The image of the brand needs to reflect concepts such as: modern, trendy, qualitity and fitness. It is worthwhile mentioning the brand will focus on training and fitness, rather than competition and fighting.

Any ideas for a business name (different from existing brand names) would be greatly appreciated. I would eventually like to expand to US, UK and Canada.

Here are some existing brand names in Australia and Global:

Everlast
Lonsdale
Punch
Sports Master
BodyFirst
Supatuff
Morgan
Madison
Adidas
Rival
Title
Fenech
Twins
Green Hill
Boon
Century
Olympro
Top Ten
Combat Sports
Kombat Gear
Ringside
Pro-Box
Ringsport
Quest
King
Blitz
Samurai
Fighter
Strike

thanks for your help!

    Impact

    First Strike

    Crosshair

    or more Australian specific

Blue - to fight, a dispute; depressed in spirits; a mistake;)

    True blue - genuine

Walloper - one who thrashes someone

Of these, i like "True Blue" the most. You would want to run any of this past a focus group.

    True Blue Walloping Gear

It could be too campy, but they may love it.

I would Google "Australian Slang" for more ideas.

don't forget the focus group!!!! you may be able to find an online forum based in Australia to run it past. Just make sure you're talking to your target audience.

    good luck

After re-reading the original post, "Walloping" may be a bit out of place.

    True Blue Fitness Equipment

    True Blue Training Gear

those are the two I would recommend, but like I said above, I would check out some more Australian slang-- dingo lingo if you will-- and cross reference their terminology with our words for train, fight, punch, etc.

When you check out an Australian slang dictionary, something is liable to jump out at you.

Hi all, thanks very much for your responses, they are all really good.

Phil, I like your suggestions but they are a bit too similar to Supatuff, an Australian brand I will be competing with.

aaardvrk, its a great suggestion to run a shortlist past a focus group and to consider Australian slang, I had only been looking at regular dictionaries up until now.

thanks everyone, I will leave it open for a little while in case any more ideas come in, appreciate your efforts.

    Emily
