Business Name Ideas

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am starting up a new business in my area and would like to sell my items online also. I am trying to come up with a name for my business. I make and sell tutus and superhero capes. Eventually, I would like to sell some other creative play items, but for now I am only selling tutus and capes. Any name ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Tutu for You (think Google, Yahoo, YouTube - the oo sound is good)

I'd tend to go with something less literal for a name...

Playstarters (building on the idea of the tutu or cape as the starting point for the child's own adventures)

kidlet capes & costumes (I use "kidlets" to refer to my little ones sometimes)... nice alliteration

Rainy Day Perfect Play (or something else focusing on indoors?)

Good luck.... while I see Phil's concerns (you SHOULD have a business plan and have identified your target market beyond "parents") I also believe you'll never achieve your dream if you don't START and move forward. Wishing you the best :)

I suspect you have identified a business opportunity that could work, but I still think Phil's basic advice is right. You need at least a rudimentary business plan of some kind. Otherwise how will you know how much money you'll need to invest to reach your objectives? For that matter, what ARE the objectives?

The worst thing that could happen is that you launch the business, spend a bunch of money to create the website, get a merchant account, place some advertising, and even sell some stuff ... only to find out that you're losing money on every sale and need to pump more money into the business if you want a prayer of surviving.

Treat this as a business if that's what you want. Or think of it as a hobby that has the potential to make some money. But don't invest large amounts of time and money to grow a business that was never more than a hobby in the first place.

And, regardless of the business/hobby issue, you need a tighter definition of your target audience. The narrower you can make it the better, because it's going to cost money to reach the audience, and the larger it is the more it will cost.
