Executive Assistant Needs New Title

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Okay. I'm a student that works with a technology/ communications company. I am an executive assistant however, the majority of the work I do doesn't really involve the "company". It involves the boss' responsibilities that he has taken on outside the company -- i.e. civic clubs/ chamber of commerce responsibilities etc. Basically I do it ALL. Whatever you may need- you can come to me and I will find it, buy it, work on it, organize it, plan it, coordinate it, whatever. So-- this dilemma has arisen about what my "title" is. The boss doesn't want "executive assistant" but rather something more "catchy" and NOT "Director of First Impressions" Ways to describe myself would definitely be: persistent, goal oriented, go getter, MOTIVATED, disciplined, studious, outgoing, talkative, and well rounded... PLEASE help because--- (surprise) it's up to me to order these business cards quick!! Thank you in advance for your input!

How about something like Community Relations Coordinator, or Coordinator of Community Outreach?

Glad you have a boss that sees the importance in being a part of the community.

    Good Luck!

I like Phil's suggestion only you might add the word "special"

Special Assistant to the (your boss' title)

If I am not mistaken it sounds likes you are an executive assistant in a private company. The duties are varied in that position and often includes those "outside the company" tasks.

That title holds weight and shows you are acting on behalf of your boss (leads to less questions on your role) so perhaps you could use:

Executive Assistant to name and Title.

Depending on your boss's role I'm certain his duties are varied so it would stand to reason and be understood yours would be as well.

A title cannot always represent all that you do - especially when you do it all.
