Desire New Fun Name For Renovated Golf Course

Posted by ken on 250 Points
I am purchasing a golf course in Texas and desire a fun name that reflects the fun of Australia or Ireland. Course will cater to primarily to 35-65 year olds. I want theme to have some attitude as most courses are plain names like riverside or something named after the land. I want to have a club with personality and a fun persona. Long term objective is to open more courses with same name in different cities, like Hard Rock Cafe has done in the restaurant business.

    Dear Ken,

You know, lots of people laughed when Dolly Parton became a
co-owner of what was then "Silver Dollar City Tennessee" in Pigeon Forge, TN.

The park was renamed "Dollywood" and today it employs 3,000 people and brings 2.5 million visitors to the region every year. Because Dollywood is privately run, how much it makes in annual revenue is anyone's guess. But one estimate for 2004 put the total at $22 million dollars. If that's true today, and allowing for inflation and the recession, Dollywood is probably still doing really well.

So, why not a Hard Rock Café style golf club chain? Hmm. Now there's a novelty, and one with huge potential. Why? Because it's different, and in a crowded marketplace, different is good.

    Ireland and Australia? Hmm.

Jumbuck O'Murphy's (*as in Waltzing Matilda)
    Billabong McGee's

The thing I like about Ireland is that the most northern point is in the south (look at a map of Ireland and this makes perfect sense).

    I hope these help.

P.S. As well as being English, I'm also an Irish citizen. How about a share of the profits if you pick one of my name suggestions?

I appreciate the responses and the ideas. I don't believe the suggested names are the right ones yet but may generate additional ideas. Thanks.
