Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I'm so thankful and ecstatic to find this on line community.

I'm trying to find a catchy phrase for members to join our organization. SGMP is a nonprofit professional organization of persons involved in planning government meetings, either on a full or part-time basis, and those individuals who supply services to government planners. Our objectives are to improve the quality and promote the cost effectiveness of government meetings by improving the knowledge and expertise of individuals in the planning and management of government meetings through education, training, and industry relationships. Our target is to recruit members who are are employees of federal, state, county and city government. Who are meeting planners or administrators who plan meetings. I have been banging my head against the wall trying to come up with a catchy line. I have thought about are you a Government Meeting Planner or Administrator seeking to improve your knowledge and expertise through education and training? Are you a Supplier of Government Meeting Professionals seeking to build industry relationships? But-these have phrases has all been used before. Please help any suggestions?

    Strong BOLD head
    CUT THROUGH THE RED TAPE...

    Sub head:
    Government Meeting Planners & Administrators Wanted.

    or

    MY GOVERNMENT WORKS FOR ME...
    But Meeting Planners & Administrators Can Work For You.

    or

    UNCLE SAM WANTS YOU...
    ...to join SGMP (then explain it)

    So what you are doing is expanding their facilitiation skills?? (as you call it educating them in management of meetings?) Or the planners who find sites, etc? Or??

    Because if I am having trouble understanding what you are selling-- so will they.

    Make your phrase focus on the benefit received. End boring meetings. Take the work out of planning, Network with industry peers, -- cause a phrase like "are you a...." will lose them.

    Jill - even with your updated description, I'm confused as Carol. I looked at your website (https://www.sgmp.org/) and learned a bit more about your offerings. Here are some ideas to play with:

    * Double Your Meetings' Efficiency
    * Halve The Meeting Time. Double The Results.
    * Make Your Next Meeting Worthwhile
    * Streamline Your Planning Meetings

    Dear Jill,

    Up until ten years ago I'd spent almost 14 years working for the government in the UK. I'll have the scars for life.

    I went through Investors in People (twice), and through rounds of other governing body "direction", mostly written and presented by people with no clue as to the function of the section they were suggesting or implementing direction for, and usually by people who used the word "synergy" more than was either good for them or than was appropriate for the time and place.

    All this is by way of introducing my somewhat jaded opinion.

    The very LAST thing you need is a catchy phrase for your ad.

    Catchy phrases don't sell. Catchy phrases ring with the hollow sound of bureaucratic B.S.

    You need a clear description of what you'll do for people that join your group.

    Something along the lines of:

    "Helping you improve communication at every level, every day"

    I hope this helps.
