I Need A Tag Line For My New Company Name

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am starting a new dog walking and pet sitting business, which I have named "Walk This Way Dog Walking and Pet Sitting". I want to appeal to a fairly wide demographic, that will include people my age (54) and under who will recognize the song as well as older and younger people. I want to keep the idea of my services as being an upgrade for the pet , and a stress reliever for both pet and owner. I have thought of using "Let us keep your pets rhythm rocking ... when you can't", but don't know if it is appropriate Any ideas for a good tag line would be appreciated.

It would help to define in what way your dog walking and pet sitting
services are an 'upgrade' for the pet, and different from other dog walking/pet sitting services.

The name you've selected is a paragraph, not a name. It also doesn't tell the target audience what the benefit would be to using your services. Somehow between the name and the tagline you need to communicate your positioning.

So let's go back to the beginning. Who is your real target audience? Where do they live? Are they frequent travelers? Do they work outside their homes? How do they decide on dog walkers or pet sitters? How often? You need to narrow that target audience. If they're in New York, are they on the Upper East Side, West Side, SoHo, Chelsea?

Then, what makes you different from, and better than, all the other dog walkers in your area? Why should someone choose you? What's the benefit you provide uniquely well? And why should someone believe you?

We can really help you, but you need to give us a little more to work with. As for the song, that's a distraction and suggests that you don't really have any substance to what you offer. It may be OK along with a clear and unique benefit promise, but without that it looks like you don't have much to say.

My target clients are people living in the Ajax, Whitby Pickering (Ontario, Canada) area and commute to work in Toronto, leaving their pet for long periods of time. I am also targeting people who go away for holidays, and would rather leave their pets in the home they know, than put them in a kennel with a bunch of other dogs. They will be people who treat their pets like family and want the pets stress level as low as possible (as walking is great exercise and lowers their anxiety levels when the owners are away).
I treat all pets as if they were my own, I have had dogs most of my life. I am providing an extremely flexible service, as far as time I will walk a dog, when I will go to tend them etc., I will look after a pet whenever a client requires me to help them. I want people to enjoy their pets and not have the pets become a point of frustration for the owners (by interfering with"life" things), they should be able to go out or stay at work late and know their pet is being looked after.I will prove that they should believe me because I will deliver what I promise them. Thanks for the suggestion and the help.

    Dear b.stilson,

This question reminds me of a Daffy Duck cartoon where Daffy means Hugo the Abominable Snowman. To paraphrase the latter character, the name of your business sounds like:

"Walk This Way Dog Walking and Pet Sitting ... and I will hug him, and pet him, and squeeze him, and pat him, and pet him and call him George"

Sorry to have fun at your expense, but Randall is quite right, your best name combination is:

    Name: Walk This Way
Tag line: Dog Walking and Pet Sitting

    I hope this helps.

While I think that your services are necessary, and I support the effort 100%, I don't think the name clearly conveys what you do, or makes me think that your services are any different from any other dog walking/pet sitting service, or that it's even about dog walking/pet sitting.

And with all due respect to the other suggestions, without the tagline, the name "Walk This Way" - by itself - conjures up an image (for me) of Groucho Marks twiddling a cigar in his hand - not of a contented dog being looked after by a loving caretaker.

Wagging Tails, Especially for Pets, Buddy Dog, The Dog Nanny, Happy Hounds, The Canine Caretaker - are unmistakably related to dogs and pets.

Make the name of your service memorable, and easy for people to understand and relate to. :) And if you can offer something that other pet services don't provide - like specializing in caring for senior dogs, or dogs with special needs - so much the better.

    Wishing you much success!

I think that you have a nice name. In my suggestion you should shorten the name to just "Walk This Way Pet Sitting." The phrase "walk this way" indirectly suggests that you walk dogs. As for a taglinge, I think you should use "Pet Sitting At the Very Leash." This is used as a sense of humor letting potential customers know that you are fun to work with and have low prices. Hope I have been of some help.
