Tagline For A Non-profit Mentoring Agency

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I work for a non-profit called Adoption and Foster Care Mentoring (AFC). We match adult mentors with mentees who have had some sort of out-of-home living experience (foster care, adoption, kinship care, group home, etc.). Our mentors spend around eight hours a month for at least a year doing things that they enjoy doing with their mentee - going to the zoo, going to the movies, eating ice cream, going to a sporting event, etc.

Here is the two statements we use: AFC empowers adopted and foster care youth through committed mentoring relationships. AND ... AFC envisions a future when all foster care children can say, "I will flourish, my community will support me."

The idea behind AFC is that our mentors are simply positive, supportive adult role role models. They aren't a parent, guardian or social worker. They are meant to be a consistent, reliable, dependable friend (we're big on consistency and friendship as two key concepts) that show the youth they can form trusting, normal relationships with adults.

We are currently trying to create a more succinct tagline to go on quarter cards and business cards. Some ones we have been playing around with.

-Because you had one
-Change a life in eight hours a month
-Eight hours a month. One year. A lifetime of memories.
-Don't underestimate friendship
-The power of friendship
-Enrich your life ... and another
-Exercise your body, mind, and heart.

We are not satisfied with any of these. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks!
Cory

    Dear Mentor,

Having spent time as an educational mentor, I know how important schemes like this are. How about these?

AFC: Because Consistent Friends Offer Dependable Influences.

AFC: Offering Consistent Friends and Dependable Influences.

AFC: Dependable Friends For Youngsters in Need.

I hope they at least influence other thoughts.
