Name For A In-home Tutoring Service Company

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am starting a new in-home tutoring company but having some trouble thinking of a good name. I began a swim school this summer called Sunsational Swim School and wanted to try and incorporate a similar name for the tutoring company.. if possible! There is a lot of tutoring centers out there and I need a name that hasn't been used yet.

Thanks!

Is there anything unique about your tutoring approach, the methods you use, etc? This could help you develop a name that will distinguish you from others.

The question shouldn't be so much what the name will be as what the POSITIONING will be. If you can figure out what makes you different from, and better than, all those other tutors in your area then the name should come easily.

Start by talking with a few of your target clients. Ask them how they decide whether they need a tutor or not, what they look for when they select a tutor, what they wish they could find in a tutor (but can't right now), and what they believe are the most important outcomes from a tutoring program.

Ask the questions without trying to sell them anything (like your services). Just ask, listen, and take notes. Take lots of notes on everything they say. Even pay attention to the words they use.

Once you've done this with 6 or 8 different people in your target audience, review your notes. The positioning will become clear. Then you can write a really specific creative brief and have a professional copywriter help you name your company.

Even if you had a name you thought was good, this exercise would be an important one. You always learn something when you listen to your target audience.

(Note: You can always pay someone to do this kind of research for you, but you won't get the full impact unless you do it yourself. If you don't have the time, however, getting a professional to do it will be a whole lot better than just assuming you know all the answers.)

If I remember correctly ... the most difficult part of any fitness program is 'getting out the door' or 'getting your shoes on' ... so you are on the right track.

Getting to your clients consistently will make the world of difference to their success and yours. Taking the burden off them helps tons!

Now say that in your name... mention some benefit!
Yes, Canvass in a mall or on the street with a clipboard, one or two questions only as suggested above. That should identify what the general public want to overcome with tutoring help. anyway to zero in on your target audience next??

    All Season ...

I'm guessing the parents are paying - what are they looking for?

    • Strict Home Tutoring (although the acronym is a little unfortunate!)
    • Results Home Tutoring
    • Tutoring for Results
    • Success Home Tutoring
    • Extra Home Tutoring
    • Pass Home Tutoring
    • Home Tutoring 4.0

or, a more classical theme (from the latin word for teacher)

    • Magister Home Tutoring

    Or - a more geographically-orientated theme

    • (Your hometown) Home Tutoring

    Hope that helps!
