Name For Online Custom Cabinet Business

Posted by rbp10 on 500 Points
I have been a professional cabinet/furniture maker for almost 40 years. I have identified and refined the process and the products that will allow anyone to quickly become a proficient woodworker.
I have designed an online program that will allow anyone - from the novice to the professional - to design and build custom furniture and wall units for every room in their home or office. By working from an extensive catalogue of pre-designed "boxes" it is easy to drag-drop-and create an unlimited number of custom wall systems and furniture. I have training videos, EASY TO USE proprietary design software, a catalogue of pre-designed wall units for use as templates, and all the components to make solid, beautiful, and affordable furniture with a minimum of tools, work space or pre-existing woodworking skills. I specify and can supply all the tools needed - fewer than you might think - all the precut and pre-finished cabinet parts , all the trim and moldings and all the hardware needed for the successful completion of a wide range of products. This system can be used by: the novice homeowner who wants an entertainment unit, a home builder who wants to give his carpentry crew all they need for custom home build-ins, or an experienced woodworker who wants to go into business for him or herself. It is literally a one stop shop for: All the knowledge..All the tools... and All the products needed to design, build and install quality, affordable, custom wall units and furniture for every room in the home or office. I need a company name and an available domain name.

This SOUNDS good, but if it's going to be a commercial success you still need business and marketing plans. Having the right name and a great website (with a good domain name) are just a small part of the total challenge.

Have you thought about who you want to attract as your primary target audience? Is it the active do-it-yourselfer? Is it the budget shopper who wants custom cabinetry but can't really afford it? Is it the contractor who would rather pay low-grade labor than hire a talented carpenter?

You're almost always better served picking a narrow target audience and doing a great job of reaching and serving them, as opposed to trying to serve everyone. It also costs less to reach a more limited (and more targeted) audience with your message.

All of this is relevant because what you'd like to do is name the company in a way that will really grab your primary target audience ... and deliver a specific positioning benefit promise to them, rather than a generic benefit that could apply to any number of audiences.

Let's first think through your marketing objective, the primary target audience, and the strategies and plans you'll use. Then we'll get to the naming process and other areas of your business and marketing plans.

    Neat concept. Congratulations.

P.S. What country are you in? How far will it be economical to ship your materials? Is there a practical limit to the geography you'll be able to serve?
