Help Pick Tagline

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We sell a local discount card. Simple enough! Target is women, aged 18- 45 (mainly) but men are buying it for the 2 for 1 golf and 2 for 1 burgers at the pub.

We can't agree on a tag, looking for some votes:

Get the card, save your money.

Shop local, save local.

The savings are in the card.

A couple of questions: What's the name of the card? If it includes the word "card" then I wouldn't repeat that word in the tagline.

Where is your target audience? Why not reference the geographic location in your tagline so people know it's just for them. Saying "local" could be anywhere.

If the only candidates are the ones you mention, and without knowing any of the important stuff, my favorite is "The savings are in the card." The problem is that we are not your target audience, so what we think is irrelevant. Why not test the taglines with your target audience? Their opinions are the only ones that count.

There are some very good ways to test taglines, and they can be done quickly. If coming up with the right tagline is important to you, it's worth bringing in a market research professional to help you design a good study that will deliver usable results that can be projected to your target audience.

And if it's not that important, just throw a dart and pick any tagline you want.
