OK brains of the world, I need you help! We are looking for a tagline for a motivational speaker that will be speaking about the programs we offer (business, new media, nursing) to high school students. The gatekeepers will be Guidance Councilors, so I need a tagline that will grab their attention as well................

Let's talk about the profile of your primary target audience. What do you know about them and the way they think/act? What are their values, beliefs, attitudes, habits and practices? What words do they use to express their feelings when it comes to the subjects you'll be addressing?

A tagline that resonates with them for its meaning will get you a lot farther than one that simply grabs attention but doesn't really say much.

Have you interviewed or surveyed a number of these folks? How about the Guidance Counselors? Have you gotten into their heads so you know what they need to hear?

The tagline is more about figuring out what these people need to hear than it is telling them what you do (or want to do). What's the benefit for them? Focus on that for your tagline.

    Hi ASmith,
MGoodman has offered some good pointers in understanding your audience better.
I'd like to add/ask; who is the motivational speaker...?
Is He/She a nationally known speaker...do they only speak to students...what other types of audiences do they speak to?
I think understanding what their overall objective of 'motivational speaking' is for an audience can lend how you present him or her to your audience.
I think that will help present the speaker well.
For example Anthony (Tony) Robbins - www.tonyrobbins.com known as a motivational speaker amongst other titles...he speaks on topics on how to turn your life around and use your inner energy, inner self to live a better life.
    Hope this helps.
