Tagline For Design, Print, Web, Event Business

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I am just starting a business which includes designing marketing collateral; developing affordable user-managed web sites; social media and mobile marketing; event planning for non-profits; and printing services. My target is small-mid sized businesses and non-profit organizations in a small community and neighboring areas.

The name I've settled on is Crosstown Creative Solutions (Crosstown because that's the road my business is on and it also can mean that I work with several areas).

I am looking for a tagline for this business. I am good with layout and design but have a hard time thinking of the right, catchy words! Thanks for your help.

    Dear nwenell ,

I agree with Phil '"Creative" is such a vague word.'

    Indeed.

    So is "catchy".

But "catchy" goes one step farther. It's not a selling strategy. Nor is edgy, hip, trendy, cool, with it, retro or any other variation there of.

Avoid these terms at all costs. Concentrate on results.

A catchy phrase would be something along the following lines:

"Hey Daddy-O, We're Todally MegaAwesome!" It means nothing.

There's nothing mroe clever than a simple but powerful positioning statement that tells people what you do and who you do it for:

Crosstown Creative Solutions: Design and Marketing For Successful Small Businesses.

Or something along these lines. What YOU want isn't what's important. It's what your clients and customers are looking for that matters. This is a really simple premise but it's incredibly powerful.

    I hope this helps.

One reason you might be having trouble coming up with a tagline is that your menu of services isn't focused on a single group/demographic, single benefit, or single way you work with people. That means that your tagline will tend to be vague, and a vague tagline won't mean much to anyone. Ideally, you want it to be able to explain in a heartbeat what you offer your target market.

So, if you'd had to pick your ideal customer for your market/service, who would it be? What would you offer them? And why would they hire you instead of your competition?

Tell us more about your plans/goals, and I'm sure the creative minds here can help you further.

Thank you Phil, Gary and Jay for your responses. Unfortunately since I am in such a small town, having a narrowed niche means very little work! I hope to continue learning from each of you.
