Business Name

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I am starting a business doing at home dinner parties. A chef will come to your home and prepare a gourmet meal for 2 to 16 people. We will also provide a server to serve the dishes and clean up afterwards. I am just trying to get some ideas for a catchy name.

Thanks!

Thanks for the advice and the suggestions.

I am working on the business plan and will incorporate.

I am just starting the process now, but was trying to brainstorm to come up with a great business name.

    Dear thauk,

Ah, that word again. Avoid "catchy". View it as the marketing equivalent of food borne illness and you'll get the general idea.

    Name suggestions:

    Dinner at Eight
    Dinner is Served
    Bon Appetit
    Let's Eat

The thing here is to be memorable. Don't try to be catchy.

Catchy is not a selling strategy. Cathy is a recipe for disaster
and invisibility. Catchy, hip, retro and so on have all been done
to death. Avoid them. Please. For the love of God, avoid them.

Rather than trying to be catchy (a term that in truth, means bugger all), concentrate on positioning yourself as the natural leader in your category in your region. Then set about becoming the best and then, tell people you are the best and they will believe it.

This is all about becoming the thing you aspire to be as you become it. It's all about declaring victory before you stride out onto the field of battle, raise your colours, and charge the enemy with bayonets fixed and glinting in the sun.

Say you're the best and then back this bold, brassy statement
by being the best, by DELIVERING MORE than expected and you'll prove it—and you'll gain referrals, thereby reinforcing the notion that you're totally awesome.

So, what word will you avoid? That's right. Now, be off with you and be brilliantly fabulous.

    I hope this helps.

Thank you all for your input - I think we are going to use the name "At Home Soiree". I really appreciate the brainstorming though. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
