Naming My Boutique

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Please help me think of a catchy name for an online boutique. I plan on eventually opening a physical location in Austin, TX, but for now I am going to sell online. My boutique will offer unique gifts for you and the home. I plan on selling girly things to women of all ages. I don't plan on selling clothing, but I may sell jewelry and handbags. Some ideas that I had seem to be overused. My top pick was La Tee Da Gift Boutique, a flair for the unique, but after researching online, it seems that is a popular name. I also like Steff's Boutique, Unique Living and Giving, but I'm afraid that won't do too well as an online name. I do like that tagline a little better than a flair for the unique. All ideas are welcome. Think pretty, girly, gaudy gifts.

    Dear steffanyduke,

Do you have a list of keywords that you know your potential customers are looking for? If you do, start with those. I'm urging you to do this because as much as you may want it to be, "catchy" is not a selling strategy. You may THINK it is, but it's not.

Your company name needs to connect with the terms people are searching for, and your name needs to TELEGRAPH what it is you offer. Connecting a domain name with relevant keywords is an effective method of attracting traffic.

This means the best selling strategy you can possibly employ is one that first of all finds out what it is people are searching for and one that then connects with those terms and then tells people: this is what you're looking for, this is what we've got, this is what it will do for you, this is what you need to do in order to get it.

When people are searching for the items you'll be selling your company or website name needs to connect with those terms, so "catchiness" isn't what matters, RELEVANCE is what matters.

Telling us what terms people are already searching for in your niche will be a great help.

I like "Girly Things To Women Of All Ages" as a tagline (from your question).
How about "Curlicue" or "Curlicute" as a store name?

    Hi Gary,
Thanks for the information. I do not have a list of keywords. Some ideas I came up with to describe the products I want to sell are: unique, fun, gaudy, glamorous, fashionable. I hope this helps, I am not really sure how to find out what my potential customers would be searching for. Do you have any suggestions of where to go online to find out what people type in when they are shopping online? My boutique will sell fashion and home accessories, as well as quirky gifts. I don't want to mislead my customers, so some of the other names suggested won't work. When I said girly in my previous post, I meant feminine. This boutique will offer items for young girls, but I think my target audience is really 18 to 30. I need a name that doesn't sound too kiddish.
    Thanks,
    Steffany

Thank you to those who tried to answer my question. Unfortunately I did not find what I was looking for. I appreciate the brainstorming, but none of the names suggested will work for my online business. I am going to do a little more research, and hopefully the next time I post a question, it will include enough information to generate the response I'm looking for.
    Thanks,
    Steffany
