Name For A Hotels Guest Reception

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hello. Our hotel is going to do a guest welcome reception in our lounge 4 days a week. There will be free food from local restaurants as well as free drinks. I am having trouble coming up with a good name or tagline for the event. I am looking for something catchy and a little more exciting then just WELCOME RECEPTION I would appreciate any help that I could get. Our lounge is called the Country Pub if that helps spark any ideas. Thank you very much!

It would be helpful if you could give us more information about your guests. Where are they from? Mostly business or mostly pleasure? Male/female? One-nighters or extended stay? Why have they selected your hotel instead of a competitor's?

You might also think about co-opting the name of your city/state/province/region. Refer to the area's reputation for hospitality. Where are you?

What's the objective of your "welcome reception" project? How will you measure effectiveness? How will you know if it achieved the objective? If you don't know what you want to achieve, you probably ought to save yourself the time and effort (and money) that will be required to initiate the program.

We can help, but we need to understand your target audience and your objectives better if we're really going to come up with a good name or tagline for the reception.

    Dear Josh,

Why only four days a week? Either guests are welcome seven
days a week or they're not. That's the first thing.

Second, avoid catchy. "Catchy is not a Selling Strategy"™

If I've just traveled God alone knows how far to get to your
hotel I don't want catchy. I want simple, concise, welcoming direction.

Tired, famished, thirsty guests want to see signs that say:

"Welcome! Help Yourself To Free Food and Drinks at the Country Pub—" with the plates, cutlery, and napkins, food, and drink CLEARLY labeled.

This says: "Sign me up! Let's eat!"

Keep it simple. And along these lines, here's a really simple sales strategy that works like magic. Just tell people:

    1. what you've got.

    2. what it will do for them.

    3. and what to do next.

    4. Then shut up.

    That's it.

    I hope this helps.
