Need Tagline For Area With 2 Islands

Posted by kelleysthompson on 250 Points
I have to do events in the greater Pensacola area. Mostly they are on Perdido Key, an island on the west side of the county and Pensacola Beach on the east side. They are both beautiful but different, like 2 sisters. People that want to go to P.K. aren't the type that would like PNS beach and the reverse is true. Beaches of Pensacola is out - definitely gets PNS Beach a leg up on P.K. I need something different, islands of ..... or beaches of ...... We are right on the AL/FL line. The Gateway to the sunshine state! I've thought of Islands of the Southern Riviera or Beaches of the Southern Riviera - "Red-Neck is to be avoided!!!" It's become an upscale, expensive place for the most part. I need this for marketing events that are in May but will be advertised atarting immediately to sposnsors, etc... PLEASE reply and ask me anything that will help you.

So what's wrong with "Beaches of the Southern Riviera?"

You might give us a better idea of what you're trying to communicate in the tagline and define exactly who is in your primary target audience.

Then let us know how you plan to evaluate tagline ideas and select a winner. If we know the criteria, we'll be much better able to help you.

Maybe tag-line isn't correct. I'm trying to find a way to brand and market this area, islands & beaches of Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key, without saying Pensacola.
    Southern Riviera is a possibility.
We have strong ties to the Navy and are considered the home of naval aviation inthe US. We have the Naval Flight Museum, Blue Angels, etc.. What about Aviation Coast or Hero's Coast? Florida's First Coast (We are the gateway to the sunshine state to the west/AL side)?
Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks, Kelley. I'm familiar with Pensacola and the NAS there. I think you're better off with "Southern Riviera" than with the Navy reference. There are still some folks who think that the areas around Navy bases are not ideal resort areas, and it's not worth the effort to try to explain that Pensacola is somehow "different" from the stereotypical Navy town.

The project you describe is not the kind we can really do a good job with in a few short responses. You do need to develop a workable positioning and branding strategy, and that's a much bigger deal than we normally tackle on this forum.

You might get a few creative ideas, but you need a lot more than that, from what you're saying.

Thanks! Lots of names to think about! My husband came up with this one last night:

The Crystal Coast , again referring to the white sand on our beaches

Does anyone out there have a favorite? Which one would make you more interested in finding out more about the area to possibly visit?
