Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
In need of a memorable name for a video game review service . The service would describe the game platform, how the game is played , skill level, and how interesting the game is plus pro and cons. Tagline or name should have easily searchable words. Must be a standout, please
I have used this service before and you are some of the best minds in the biz. So much success with past names . Thank you for your help.

I salute your bravery. This is a very crowded field with shrinking ad budgets to support you. The landscape is already littered with many dead bodies.

Consider that the large media companies already have specialized review publications/sites, the general media do a good job of reviewing games, and there are well established fans sites that already have a very loyal following across many categories and segments. To overcome this, you will need to do two important things; choose your segment carefully and find a way to differentiate yourself within it.

Accept that gamers are already segmented. Hard core PC gamers don’t have any interest in kiddie games, educational game users don’t want the kind of mature content associated with GTA (Grand Theft Auto), etc., etc. The most successful entities in this arena are very targeted. Now the second part, delivering a unique approach. I can’t tell you how to do this, but I bring it up because it should become the foundation of your name and tagline and reinforce your unique position and content.

    Here are some naming examples:
** NoN00bs - this would appeal to hard core gamers
** GameOn - could appeal to family gamers
** PwnPlanet - if you don't know what it means, you're missing a big segment
    ** GameMonitor - more general
** GTDS - for hard core, Games That Don't... (just as BFG was a big term)

I hope I don’t sound discouraging. Every large company started out as small as you and most faced huge incumbents. Plus, you are in the most fun industry on the planet.

    Best of Luck, JohnnyB.
