Topic: Taglines/Names

Tag Line Required

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We are a new web based Ski company called SkiSeeker who are looking to aid our exposure with a catchy and concise tag line to help promote our business.

SkiSeeker offers a property finder service for users of SkiSeeker wanting to find a ski chalet or ski apartment principally in the Alps but we aim to expand further a field as we grow. Property owners can either advertise for free on SkiSeeker for which we charge an annual fee or we offer a free advertising service for property owners for which we take an 8% commission for any confirmed bookings made through SkiSeeker.

SkiSeeker also offers a marketplace for users to advertise their equipment to sell. We are not an auction site, more an advertising board for which users pay a nominal fee to advertise their equipment. We also offer this service to trade users.

SkiSeeker also offers a wealth of information related to skiing including an events page were users can list up-coming activities or events that they wish users to know about.

Given the multi-faceted content within SkiSeeker we are struggling to come up with a short tag line that covers what we do.

Feel free to browse the site to get a feel of what is on offer and we look forward to receiving your suggestions. www.skiseeker.biz

Thank you for your help.

    SkiSeekers,

I am the original powder hound, and when I am not pounding this keyboard, I love to be blasting down a mountain somewhere. I have skied all over Europe and the US, and rented a lot of properties and bought a ton of gear on both continents.

My advice will relate more toward your strategy, but I'll still throw a tagline at you. :)

First, ditch the kit. You cannot compete with eBay and other places that sell used gear, and when you perform poorly here it will make the rest of the service look weak by association. Even Google kills projects that aren't a big hit. Do one thing and do it well is a proven strategy (Google started as just a search engine). In a few years, when you have millions of users, you can re-launch the kit biz.

If you are trying to reach an EU audience, you are too late. There are 3 service I use that are great and have a ton of properties so why switch. If you are trying to reach an NA audience, then I think you have a great idea that will succeed. Here are three things that are missing from the services I use now:
    - A consistent and easily searchable format
    - Interpreter services on-demand and when needed (I speak FR but little DE)
    - 24 hour assistance if anything goes wrong (Americans are just not as adaptable as Europeans)
If you haven’t already, check out www.vacationrentals.com I use them a lot for NA rentals and they are really good at it. They list all the info in a standard and consistent format and let you search on a big number of property attributes.

As promised, here are some tag ideas:

    ** We Make Europe Easy

    ** Global Ski Chalet Finder

** Ski Anywhere, Stay with Us

    ** Your Partner in Travel

I'll try you out next time I'm headed to the Alps.

    Best of Luck, JohnnyB.

P.S. Kit - it's always singular! Sorry had to get that off my chest.
