Need Brand Name + Tagline For Lux Shapewear Line

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am launching a luxury lingerie/shapewear/intimates accesories brand and recently have decided to change the name I originally chose. Please help me brainstorm a fabulous brand name and tagline.

This brand will be carried in boutiques and upscale department stores with a higher end pricepoint. It consists of Shapewear garments with a lingerie look and feel, bra's, panties and various accessories. I also plan to add a line of personal care/beauty products to the brand in the next 12-24 months so I need a name that is versatile.

I need something with WOW factor and memorability, but that is feminine, flirty and fun.

Preferably 2 words, nothing slutty or tacky. Ideally, something that can translate well in foreign countries since this will be carried in the US, but also Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, South America etc. Not a necessity, but definitely would help:)

    Hi Phil,
Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I should have stated in my brief though, I do NOT want to use Shapewear anywhere in the name.

The brand will carry bodyshaping garments, but I am marketing more as lingerie then "Shapewear" which has a certain image to it. I also carry bra's, panties , accessories, etc .

It really needs to be something with POP and WOW. Something tongue in cheek or a play on words... something innovative, flirty, fun but still luxury and upscale.

I'm a little concerned that you are expecting the name to do more than a name can do. If it were my business, I'd be trying to communicate my unique positioning benefit to the primary target audience, and let the name simply reinforce that message. When you ask the name to also be your advertising and be broad enough to serve multiple products/benefits, you're not being realistic.

Perhaps you should start with a very limited and focused marketing plan, and a name that is perfect for your specific target audience. Be reasonable about what the name can do ... and concentrate on how you're going to generate awareness and appeal to your target audience. That's what will make you successful. The name -- even a WOW name -- is just icing on the cake -- not a marketing plan.

I understand your position but I beg to differ. A WOW name can bring instant appeal and branding opportunities. I provided SPANX as an example because it was unique, catchy and fun. Perhaps this wasn't the proper forum to seek out something innovative and creative since for some reason you seem to believe that companies should brand themselves in such a limited way.

You communicate your unique brand qualities through advertising materials etc, but the NAME should pop. And yes, a name can do alot. Especially if it's something unique that sticks in peoples head, is something clever, something fun and playful. A name isn't just icing on the cake in the year 2010, it can be one of the single most important pieces to success. No one would know what Victorias Secret was supposed to apply to, but it was a terrific name that allowed it's brand to build an empire beneath it.

Additionally, having a name that is original allows for .com's to be used that are not taken already etc. With women, especially women aged 18-45, branding is a huge factor, and WOW factor can mean the difference between then stopping to take a look, or walking right by.

    But that's just my opinion.

International words are difficult but play with International Celebrities names in the 'world' your client inhabits....or hopes they will.

Sophia Loren and Ralph Lauren (similar sounding surnames) could emote or imply a level of sophistication and quality add an exotic place name:

    Loren's Of Luxor

A little alliteration with S + chance for interesting Upper Case larger font S Graphic:
    Soft Sophia

Or French for end 'of the day' when the lights get lower.
    Fin Du Jour.

Your tag line will explain/pull your clients eye to your USP.

    Keep focused!
