Need Help Choosing One Of Two Book Website Names

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
hi:
I'm developing a website that searches for lowest priced books online and can't decide between between two basic names. In interest of protecting the domain, I won't give the full name, but I'd really appreciate it, if you could let me know which one of the two basics you like best [I suppose you could say which you like best personally and which you think would be more effective].
The choices are: The Book Mole or The Book Fox?

thanks in advance for any help!

Phil is one of our KHE Gods, so please take his words to heart.

On the other hand, a type of fruit is a pretty dumb name for a computer (and music player, phone, and tablet), and the sound a bird makes is also a pretty silly name for one of the largest social media phenomenon to sweep the marketing industry. They both seem to be doing quite well.

That said, I favor the mole approach. Moles burrow to find teasures and that is what you do - you burrow through all the content on the web to find the best prices for books. In general, I think there are more positive connotations associated with moles than foxes. Yes, foxes are sly, but our most effective spies are called moles.

I'll keep an eye open for your service. I'm sure I'll be using it.

    Best of Luck, JohnnyB.

I'd suggest Book Mole to Book Fox, mostly because there's a website that's been around for 4 years (https://www.thejohnfox.com) and it might lead to some confusion.

Given you choices, don't obsess about the name too much. The name is something for people to remember, but only after they've visited your website and want to come back and tell their friends.

BookSnoop conveys some sort of searching or hunting and anything with the sniffing/searching nose logo would work .... a 'fish eye lens' photo (distorts image for larger than normal view of closest part) of dog nose or aardvark nose etc. would certainly be different.
    Graphic artist would help too.

I like the book mole but seems as if there is room for improvement.

thanks guys. So mole it seems to be. I do think book snoop is good, but I had already reserved/decided on name before seeing that suggestion. As an fyi, it was always just part of the name. What I settled on was EZ Price Mole [as in www.EZPriceMole.com). The key aspect of it is that this will be an easier and faster [and of course FREE] way to ck for book and music prices, as we're developing a tool to do it on the fly (a subtle pricing module will only appear when you're on a page with a book or CD, otherwise you'll never see it). If this sounds like something you'd want to try, just e-mail me at [Email address deleted by staff], and we'll notify you when it's ready.
    thanks again for the help!
    Best,

Hope it's not too late but your name won't lead 'book' or music shoppers to your site or be remembered for what it does unless you sell moles also. Reconsiderd.

I hear you and struggled with name and problem with not having "book" in title, but was concerned if name gets too long then can't be remembered: ex. EZBookPriceMole, plus takes away focus on most important piece of the product/service: which is that it makes Price Sleuthing EASY. EZ BookMole or EZBookSnoop, leaves out the key piece of price checking. So I felt I needed to sacrifice one part, and left out book [esp., as if it works, can expand to other products].
