Urgent Urgent We Need Help!!!

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Hi!
We are a group of recent Hotel & Restuarant Management graduates (there are 6 of us) who have a strong culinary background and are in the process of starting a catering company. As a niche we are going to focus on children and pre-teen parties and events, but we are also going to do other events (baby showers, bridal showers, etc). We seem to be at a road block when it comes to deciding upon a name, any suggestions???

Are you focusing on the food or the party experience?
    Where are you located?
Why would people want to hire you?
Who is your demographic / income-level?

The more we know about you, the better we can help.

We are going to be located in the DC/PG County area

We are focusing on the food component not the party experience

The average children's and pre-teen party probably isn't going to hire a company to prepare food, unless you're focused on a specific niche (whether that be food allergies, foodies, etc).

Perhaps you can tell us the story of who's going to need you, when, why they couldn't create the food themselves, how much they'd pay for your services, etc.

We'd like to help your business succeed, but we want to ensure that you've thought through your business model/strategy before we give you a name. A name alone won't make your business, and we'd like to save you time/money to ensure you start off on the right foot.

It seems you might be interested in ideas to help you select a name more than this group proposing names. If that is the case - here are some things you need to think about.

When it comes to people finding your business - how will they do that? Do you want people to find you on Google? Okay - so first go to Google and type in keywords that you think people will use to find a catering business in the DC/PG area. Now use Google's Keyword took and see what the search volume is for those keywords? What are keywords that would distinguish you? You might not want to have keywords in your company name because they could be hard to compete for. Like "DC Catering" would be directly competing with a lot of competition and likely make it harder for people to find you.

You might want to come up with a name that is somehow an acronym of your names or something that combines your names so that you have a story to tell. Oh how people like stories.

To help us help you more...can you tell us about what makes your catering company unique? I'll give you an example - have you heard of the cup cake bakery (they only make cupcakes) that decorates all their gourmet cupcakes, called Sprinkles? One of their value propositions (in my own terms) is that you get these sinful cupcakes that look amazing and are made out of the highest quality of products available. They've done interviews on TV about how they source this rare and amazing vanilla that really bumps up the price - but allows you to really enjoy your cupcake...

What is your group going to offer customers that would make them choose your catering company over another. Don't tell us "taste" unless you're going to take a Sprinkles approach! :)
